How to you cope with teens experimenting with drinking?

I am from UK & when my son was around 15, in order to stop him & his friends going out drinking on the quiet, myself & his friends parents decided that we would allow them the occassional beer in our homes. This took away the mystique that surrounded it & before long they did not bother drinking the beer & instead asked for cokes.

Now that they are adults none of them drinks to excess.

Is she getting so hammered that she can't walk and she is giving blowjobs in the bathroom while mom is hanging out? My guess is no.

In europe, there is no technical drinking age. kids here dont get hammered like americans do. you go to the bar and people sit over a glass of wine for a half hour. its because it wasnt forbidden to them at a young age, so it's not all that exciting. a drinking age of 21 just begs to be broken.

let her drink. at least she'll be the cool kid. when it's your daughter you can make all kinds of rules.

That's a hard one. I have always been open and honest with my 14 year old about drinking etc.

I remember when I was in High School, we had a Mother of a girl who was killed in a car accident because she was out joy riding (drunk) with her friends. She showed us pictures of her daughter, and pictures of the mangled car afterwards. This set me straight on the whole drinking thing. I didn't want to end up like this girl, or stay near people who thought it was cool to drink.

The drinking age is 21 for a reason. She is way too young to handle the responsibilities of drinking. And it's illegal for anyone for be buying for her.

show her medical pictures of what alcohol does to her liver, show her pictures of alcohol related accidents. she is probably going to do it anyways but she might think twice about continuous consumption when she remembers the mangled liver you show and might not drink and drive or get into a car with someone who has been drinking when she remembers the mangled bodies she saw. i know it sounds harsh but if she wants to drink like an adult should be able to face the potential consequences like an adult. dad you need to have a long talk with mom, "supervised" drinking is condoning it. good luck

I believe eighteen is the appropriate age, being military and all. As for disciplining her, you run the risk of the old "your not my mother bit". I wouldn't allow it in my house, and if she were picked up by the authorities, I wouldn't bail her out. Whatever stance you take, make sure she understands the ramifications of her actions.

You and your husband will have to sit down and discuss this with her mom. If nothing changes, I'd get her so drunk she can't walk straight and throws up, then wake her up bright and early for the loudest hardest chores you can come up with. That will make her think twice before letting it get out of control.

get her hammered until she pukes then make her go to bed and get up early for a fun filled family day! She will hate you forever and she may just put off the drinking for awhile!! Good Luck!!!!

18 years old i think is appropriate...although it is going to happen whey before that i assure u of that ...i would beat his/her azz.....period .....i personnaly have bad experiences with alcohol and i am lucky to have been after them...I am only 24 and a father of 3 if i catch my kids drinking when i dont think there ready i m going to tear there azz up.......

It's still illegal now, tell Dad to lay the the law to both her and her Mother or turn it in and take custody
