Is it possible that my male cat has hemorrhoids?

This is a sincere question. There is something hanging out of his behind. I had thought it was feces and tried to wipe it off with a tissue, but the poor cat howled and ran and hid! Any ideas?

One of my cats looked like it had hemorrhoids. It went away by itself.

...I may have given the cat softer food -- canned fish/pasta, wet cat food for a few meals (to make bowel movements easier), instead of the usual dry food.

May sure it has water at all times [bottled preferred].

Another cat had a sore on it's butt (that looked a lot like hemorrhoids)... It, too, went away in a few days by itself. (Again, I try to feed my cats as healthy as possible, to maintain their health.)

It could be a lot of things. A parasite, a sliver, a sore from getting in a fight with another animal. Take Fluffy to the vet.

Cats can get swollen anal glands that fill with some kind of white stuff. I have never seen this but have read about it in my favorite cat health book. It says you can "express" them yourself but I would take him to a vet to handle it.

It is time to take your cat to the vet. It could be a tumor.

It could be a tumor or just blocked anal glands. He really needs to see the vet.
