Anyone have a home treatment for cold sores?
I have one starting to appear on the corner of my lip. I haven't had one in a while and I don't have any OTC or RX meds. Anyone have a home treatment to help get rid of it, shorten its duration or at least stop the tingling?

Carmex. I use to get them every once in a while. AS soon as i felt the tenderness and tingling start i'd put on carmex and that would do it.

Abreva will shorten the duration. Also Propolis tincture available at health food stores.

Put a little toothpaste over it. The toothpaste will do. I have used it for cold sores and it helped.

Yes, rubbing alcohol. It will dry it out real quick - hopefully before it fully develops. Good luck. Feel your pain - get them often. Elimate stress!!!

Abbrieva is effective and very quick. I know of no home remedy that works as nice as Abbrieva.
