Anyone have a home treatment for cold sores?

I have one starting to appear on the corner of my lip. I haven't had one in a while and I don't have any OTC or RX meds. Anyone have a home treatment to help get rid of it, shorten its duration or at least stop the tingling?

Carmex. I use to get them every once in a while. AS soon as i felt the tenderness and tingling start i'd put on carmex and that would do it.

Abreva will shorten the duration. Also Propolis tincture available at health food stores.

When my husband gets a cold sore, he applys after shave or alcohol..just a little splash of either...after shave or alcohol will make it go away...it will sting at first..but you will feel relief,,,quick and it will heal very fast.

Put a little toothpaste over it. The toothpaste will do. I have used it for cold sores and it helped.

Yes, rubbing alcohol. It will dry it out real quick - hopefully before it fully develops. Good luck. Feel your pain - get them often. Elimate stress!!!

Abbrieva is effective and very quick. I know of no home remedy that works as nice as Abbrieva.
