Cause they players in the MLB are from all over the world, many different countries. So they figure that it is the "World Series", but i agree that it shouldnt be called that.

Besides the Canada thing, players from allover the world thing, and the "grander" name thing. Most baseball fans would agree that MLB in the U.S. is the most talented and competitive baseball league in the world overall. It is the highest level of competetion in the baseball world. Now that World Baseball Classic is a great thing, but it doesn't replace the signifiance of the World Series by any means.

This question has been asked and answered at least 25 times this month alone.
We popularized the game, had two "major leagues" each claiming to be the baseball champions of the United States, and needed a grander name for the first series of games pitting those two leagues, over 100 years ago.

since its not in the Olympics anymore..they should call that new world competition the world series...haha..i don't even know what it is called now =P
