Has anyone tried those outdoor Bark Control Devices?

Those do not work, don't waste your money! I must agree with other's on the bark collar that gives them a little jolt. it does NOT hurt them and I am so tired of people saying thyey are cruel.

It's only cruel if you leave it on all the time. But if you use it in conjunction with training they work like a charm. And YES I have felt the shock myself and it's not more than a static charge..just a little stronger to get through the fur.

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

I have one (I am not sire of the model) it is made by Innotek.

It works wonderfully. It cut out the barking at nothing.

Mine will bark even thru the shock if someone is around.

But the just barking to make noise stopped right now.

I have clients who have tried the citronella collars and some liked them and a few no as they did not work that well.

If you don't want a barking dog, don't get a dog period. Dogs bark.

Try TRAINING the dog not to bark instead of cruel methods of negative reinforcement.

yes and it works great. all it does is when your dog barks it sends a a high pitch sound that dogs don't like to your dog. pretty soon your dog will learn that if they bark something bad will happen.

i'd advise tackling the clarification behind the issue, not purely masking it up with a gadget. prepare your canines and shop them mentally and bodily drained so that they don't opt to bark, there are not any quick fixes!

I'm not a fan of shock collars in the first place, but I'd never recommend an electric collar for use unattended. They can malfunction, and if they do, they can burn and torture your dog horribly. There are better methods.

In my experience, dogs tend to learn to ignore those things pretty quick... And the problem is - sometimes you WANT a dog to bark if there's a stranger coming on your property.

The most reliable method is not to leave the dogs outside all the time. You can consider having surgery to cut the dog's vocal cords - it's a lot more humane than having your pissed off neighbors poison your dog.

Actually my sister uses one on her dog and she says that it works great. No more annoying barking for no reason. I know it sounds cruel to some people but its not its just some dogs are loud barkers and we dont want to upset our neighbors.

If you get one, don't do what my friend did. He swore it wasn't working (on the dog), so he put it on himself and starting barking. It shocked him, and every time he screamed it shocked him again. His wife was laughing so hard she could barely help take it off of him. Yes. They work.
