LOL I'm Asian and it's a wonder how people think that just because you step out the door you can't hear them, when you really can, still.

An Asian fellow-worker of mine, who I thought the world of in terms of how well we get along, said something about me as I walked out the door, and it came as a shock to me because I thought things were OK between us.

Gossip is highly untolerated at work, theoretically, but it's hard to regulate. When you complain of gossip, management usually asks for specific things that you heard, not just "They were talking about me," and that makes it difficult because in the heat of indignation it's hard to remember exactly what they said.

If it gets really bad, and I know it is difficult because it can outcast a member of the crew, I would bring it to the attention of management. Hopefully they are not involved, LOL. Loss-prevention will get involved in extreme cases. I've heard of employees who don't get along being separated and sent to other stores. Oddly I always assumed that termination would occur in the case where two employees are so difficult that they have to be separated, but I was surprised to see the amount of catering that the company does in these cases.

The last thing you want to do is gossip back. Ironically, people immature enough to start gossip, are also the most sensitive individuals who would report you right away, even though they started the whole thing. (*sigh*) Yes, the world is full of difficult people. I hope things turn out better.

You only got a few choices. You can either ignore them or engage them. Or you can also spread gossips about them-taste of their own medicine and all that. If you chose to engage them it may mean aconfrontation the outcome of which may be to your detriment. So the best thing is probably to ignore them. You know the saying - "Sticks & stones may break my bone but words can never hurt me". Words only has an effect on you if you chose to let them and although it may be very difficult sometime to ignore the effects of gossips it is best to do so.

I pretty much let the buck stop here. If someone at work starts gossiping, I usually try to brush them off. If they don't take a hint, I'll stand there and 1/2 listen, but I'll never repeat anything they say. I find it incredibly juvenile to gossip.
