Does anyone think that maybe, just maybe, Garth Snow can end up being an okay GM on the Island?
Just because the situation's unconventional, doesn't mean he'll be awful at it.

The best general managers pull off the best trades right before the March trade deadline. It takes a year or two to be able to judge a new General Manager.

It isn't that it is unconventional - it is that he has no experience as a general manager. Most people are coaches, scouts, or assistant general managers before they get to be GMs. He was literally taken off the bench and thrown into a world to which he is entirely foreign. Could he be a good GM down the line? Sure. But I think due to the way the owner runs that team, he is going to be little more than a puppet of ownership, and he's going to get a raw deal.

He's a lackey, a puppet, a stooge of Mr Wang, the worst owner in sports. How in the world can anyone fire Neil Smith, a Cup winner, for saying your organization is inefficient? Smith oughta know! So they get the back-up goalie to take over instead? If the owner can't take even constructive criticism, then Snow will be safe in his job as long as he keeps his mouth shut and doesn't rock the boat. Which means he'll do nothing to improve the team. That boat needs to be rocked though!!!!!

I think he might have an OK hockey mind. Goalie is the toughest position in the NHL since you have know your opponents and their tendencies. However, he's not going to wield any true power. He's going to be controlled by the owner so

Then again it's the Wanglanders. They're doomed. Great scouting staff but what is up with the GM position?

the unconventional setup may actually help him because he has no experience, he may do better when the decisions arent entirely up to him... or the system could totally screw everything up and make him look like a total moron... we will see

I wont judge him until after the first month of hockey is over and the team is above .500

Hey, ya never know? Wait until its a few months into hockey season, then we can see how he's handling the situation.
