My iniquity is more than I can bear. - To bear iniquity is in Hebrew phrase to undergo the punishment of it. And the prospect of this, as it presents itself to the eyes of Cain, is so appalling that he shrinks from it as intolerable. To be driven from the face of the soil, inhabited by the other surviving members of the human family, to an unknown and therefore terrible region; to be hidden from the face of God, who manifested himself still to the race of Adam in their present abode; to be a vagabond and a fugitive in the earth, far away from the land of his birth; and to be liable to be slain in just revenge by anyone who should find him - such is the hard fate he sees before him. It is dark enough in itself, and no doubt darker still in the exaggeration which an accusing conscience conjures up to his imagination. The phrase, “every one finding me,” implies that the family of Adam had now become numerous. Not only sons and daughters, but their children and grandchildren may have been growing up when Cain was sent into exile. But in his present terror even an excited fancy suggested an enemy at every turn.

I think that he changed physically, though.

I've heard speculation:

1) I understand that those in the South thought tha the mark of Cain was black skin. Of course they would think that, it supported their veiw on slave ownership.

2) I've had a very reliable preacher say that there was more evidence to support that the mark of Cain was white!

Whatever it was:

1) Cain knew he changed.

2) He feared what others would do to him.

3) God delivered him.

4) Cain was worried about other people. (What other people?)

Well, it was the beginning of the world...there couldn't have been too many people around, and all of them would have been related to Cain: Of course, that would be incestuous, and many ppl have theories about how other ppl came to dwell on earth besides the offspring of Adam, but none of them really can be explained. So, since people lived to be hundreds of years old back then, maybe Cain killed Able when he was...200?400?700? Either way, there would have been lots of time for lots of kids to be born, and the family to grow pretty big. Therefor, anyone who saw Cain would be part of the family and know what he did.

No man can tell just by looking at another if he was a murderer or not. God alone can tell and God knew what Cain had done to his brother, Abel.

Murder is horrible but the Bible says that the only sin one cannot repent from is the sin of Blasphemy, which is making fun of His Holy Spirit and people who have His Holy Spirit in their lives.

Once they do that...there's no chance for repentance for them ever.

The contentment of godly living, the peace that radiates from one who is in favor with God, the withdrawal of the Holy Spirit that indwelled Cain until God withdrew it from him for his actions, a hardness of heart - the eyes - windows to the soul - had lost the gleam of innocence was absent.

I have heard that that Cain was marked, no one really seems to know how. I have read and been taught that Cain's descendants are monsters, beasts, and can easily be spotted. Who knows?

Some people theorize that werewolves, vampires, yeti, and whatnot are descendants of Cain and that is why his people will be hunted to the ends of the earth.

Guilt

I think it was the sign God slipped on Cain like a necklace that read: "I just killed somebody" that gave him away.

The Bible never says, but I know some people who believe that this is when God changed the color of the man's skin, and that he was black.

A lot of people use this to try to say that god marked him by turning him black.
