How do I get my boyfriend to stop "chewing"?
My boyfriend of 2 months recently disclosed that he chews tobacco. He said that he would work at stopping but so far he hasnt been successful. Honestly I love him very much, but if I had known that he chewed in the beginning I would have never dated him. This is kind of a deal breaker to me but I dont want to put a lot of pressure on him to stop. Basically, what is a good way to get him to stop or atleast help motivate him to stop? Thanks!
When he told me, I went and bought him a Costco-sized case of gum so if he felt the urge to chew then he would have gum. He still keeps "slipping" up though.

An awful lot depends on his personality. What will help some people will just make other people get stubborn.
The first thing I can think of is to tell him you love him, and you'd really like to see him keep his teeth past 35. People who chew a lot tend toward a lot of gum diseases, including cancer.
I gave my last girlfriend incentive to quit smoking without even really trying . She wanted to know why sometimes I just didn't want to french, and I told her I didn't want to make her feel bad, but sometimes she just didn't taste very good. And she realized that each of those times had been a time she had been smoking recently. But she already wanted to quit. She figured if I could taste it 20 minutes later, she would have to work harder at quitting, and did it.

Dont hesitate to put pressure on him. You might find somthing more constructive for him to do,(like cleaning when ever he feels the need to chew), and if all else fails give him a piece of plain leather and tell him to chew that instead.

If your desperate enough to get him to stop, dip into his pouch, put a wad in your mouth, chew it for about 30 seconds, and then tell him you want a great big kiss! (It will probably make you sick, but he seeing you doing this nasty habit should send the message). Then tell him that either he quit, or you are picking up the habit with him, his call to make! (Warning, This is a desperation move, so be ready if he says its OK for you to pick up the habit)

Find a bunch of pictures of people with cancer of the mouth from chewing tobacco then post them up in his car, on his fridge, leave them on his dresser.....nothing quite as attractive as someone with half their face cut away due to cancer!

Go buy some goldenseal from your local drug store, and place it in his chew. It wont hurt him but it is very bitter and it willl change his mind about chewing it, and if he changes brands just keep tampering with it. Best to do it while he is sleeping. But make sure you compress it like it was never touched. *HAHA* Good luck!!!

Tell him just that. I love you but this is a deal breaker. It is me.. or the chem.. and I'll help you quite.. and I love you.. But please...
Bookmark some cases of mouth/throat cancer patients for backup. those would scare the crap outta anyone.
