Is there a way to build my daughters credit?

My Mom & Dad, started building my credit for me when I was around 2 or 3. Is there a way, I can do the same for her?

Putting your daughter on one of your existing credit cards will improve her credit score. Contact the credit card company that you have had open for the longest time and ask to have her added. You don't have to give her the card, but just having that account will put her "in file" date in the credit bureau back to the date the account opened.

Example: You have a Visa card at Chase that you opened in 1995. You add your daughter to the account as an authorized user and her "in file" date in the credit bureau is now 1995. Even if she wasn't born in1995. Does this make her more credit worthy? No, but it will increase her credit score and that is what many lenders look at first. Once your daughter reaches majority you can arrange for her to borrow money from a bank using the loan proceeds as collateral, or you can get a joint loan. Either will help get her credit started.

I work in the credit card industry. And a joint account may be the answer IF they are approved. The company will take both credit histories in account when they make their decision for approval.

The best thing your daughter can do is apply for a card..a store card or other credit card on her own .. use the card once to make a small purchase ...pay it BEFORE she receives her statement and then not use the card.

When she pays her account before interest is applied, after 6 months, she will have established a favorable line of credit.

I'll add a site to a credit card company that really helps people re-establish or establish credit. Again.. after 6 months to a year, she should have a good credit score.

2 or 3? why? I mean really, why?

I have never been refused a loan, my credit is great, but I didn't start applying for loans until I was out of high school.

I guess, if you can, go for it...but why?

you could take a loan out from the bank that you don't really need and just pay them back in a timely fashion with the money they lent you.

the only way you can is by putting her as a joint card holder on your credit card... NOT AUTH USER it has to be a JOINT CARD HOLDER>

Ask your parents what they did.
