Multiple Kittens in a litter?

That is a load of crap. A cat can mate with one male and they still can have a huge litter. Just like dogs however, since they are ovulating many eggs, there can be multiple fathers. One kitten or puppy in a litter can not tell you how many different males they MAY have mated with.

Hope you do not have a cat in this situation. If so, please spay the cat!!!!!

Cats are small animals and have litters to make sure enough kittens will survive to adulthood to continue the species, just like mice or birds. It is the nature of cats to birth multiple kittens, it has nothing to do with how many toms mated with her. The fact that she may have several VERY different colored kits could indicate how many toms did impregnate her, but she could have been caught by just one.

How many people do you know that have children with, say, blond hair and blue eyes and then have a red haired, green eyed child? Or one with black hair or brown hair and grayish eyes? The mother hasn't cheated, it's just that some recessive genes came out.

Female cats release several eggs when they go into heat, or estrus, but not all at the same time. So they usually mate several times during their cycle. If she only has access to one male cat, they will usually mate several times, and she will have a full litter of kittens. But if she only mates one time in her cycle, she will only have a few kittens. Dogs are the same way, and can have puppies from several different daddies if allowed to roam.

bull crap they can mate with the same cat one time and have as many kittens. but if they mate wit one cat then with a nohter within a few days they can have 1 litter of kittens with diff dads.

a litter can have diffrent farthers if the cat breeds with more than one male. but this does nothing to the size of the litter. she can breed with one male and still have 8 or more or breed with 3 males and only have 4 or less. it all depends on how many eggs she ovulates

It is true that a litter can have more than one father. The number of babies born has more to do with genetics and environmental factors, like the health of the mother, whether she's an experienceced mom, gets good food or not, etc.
