Gasoline GASOLINE???????

What on earth is happening to the USA?

Chevron made a 4.35 BILLION DOLLAR PROFIT, just in the quarter. What can we do as American Citizens to stop the price gouging of the gasline? I am really tried our government saying it is because of the Middle East........HELLO....The Middle East has nothing to do with Chevron making such a profit. What do you think and what can we do, if anything?

Update:

This is only one gasoline station. What about the rest of them. I know that everyone has to make a living but this is unreal. Thank you for your answers.

Update 2:

I am not upset and don't need to calm down. I simply ask a question and some of you are downing me because of it. I respect your opinion but I have mine also. You should repect mine. Thank you.

Supply and demand would solve this, but everyone would have to participate. There is absolutely no reason for gas prices to be this high. They use all kinds of exuses. If everybody only bought what they needed, not fill tank up.. only what they needed every week, the gas stations would then have an excess of gas.. they would not need to buy from mr buck rocks.. whose pockets are already lined... I already do this.. hoping that folks will catch on.. I still put $5.00 of gas in my car at a time, and only drive to and from work, well and a few other places.. but all necessary stuff. I pay for gas as I need it. If we all did that, supply and demand would change.... prices would have to drop.

My theory has always been that everyone in America should either not drive their car for one day at all (which may or may not include going to work), see if you do this you are not only sending a message to the Government and Big Oil Companies, but you are telling your boss that these prices are too high and he needs to help figure something out. I know that sounds far fetched but if people started sending the word out now, maybe we could do it just once to see if we can do anything but it needs to have planning. Of course there are those that can't afford to even miss one day so that kind of shoots the whole thing to heck. I have decided that if the prices get to high (say $4 a gallon) then I am not going to drive anymore and will just walk, which if feasable for me since I live in a small town but me doing it alone won't work I we everyone needs to do something to get it through to these companies that we aren't going to put up with this. What I don't get is we are occupying an oil producing nation yet our oil prices are still rising, now lets get real we have already infiltrated this country overthrown their dictator, so what is wrong with taking some oil for all of the crap we have had to deal with. Three wrongs don't make a right I guess.

I think if the senators and congressmen would do their jobs and look into it instead of wasting their time complaining and going after our president what they think is wrong and its not and who cares. I think they should start looking into the gouging by the oil companies. It is very clear when the media states they think(not fact)the prices are going up and the next day they do. The price of oil goes down it has little or no affect of the fuel price at the pump. There goes their reason for the price increasing due to oil prices going up. It should go down as fast. Enough soap box for now, get rid of the Fiengolds and put people in the positions who care about the USA.

Calm down, Ask the folks on here from other countries if they give a rats patootie that we are paying $3 a gal. They would kill for that. The oil prices are up all over the world, not just here. Oil is priced based on demand and the demand is high. The US sure uses a ton of it, The middle east, eh...some....But China's economy is kicking *** and taking names. There demand for oil is growing leaps and bounds daily. Think about that the next time you drive your SUV to walmart to buy some crap that say "made in China". You are only perpetuating the situation.

The gross profit a company posts is meaningless. So, don't make such a big deal of it.

Yesterday Exon posted a profit of 10 billion for the quarter. So, what? The capitalization of Exon is 400 billion. Why do you get so upset when a company makes 6 cents per year on each dollar invested?

be thankful we don't use the metric system. In Europe it is about 8 to 9 bucks a gallon so I'm not complaing. Just use less gas and conserve the power that we use, that's all we can do.

we can boycott all the gas stations for one day that will only rasie prices, or make them see that we are ticked off , but that a catch 22.

    We are addicted to it.

To get from point A to point B, we have the largest, lumbering lummoxes of the lanes out there lapping up the petrol.

To change this, we have to use less, which means getting a car that gets at least 20 mpg or better.

and then there are hybrids, when the price comes down to earth.

If people stopped buying as much gasoline, then they wouldn't make as much money.

Clearly, $3/gal isn't high enough for Americans to change their lifestyle. Thus, gas companies have the fortune of selling something people really need. Thus the high profits.

buy an ethanol car? boycott chevron gasoline? hybrid cars? its just the oil companies taking advantage of the situation. do what brazil did, switch to E85 ethanol. its cheap, more efficeint, and better for the earth.

Easier said then done...but if everyone, and I mean EVERYONE united and did not go anywhere and buy gas one single time in a week I bet you a million dollars the gas prices would go down. :)
