Who do you think will win Israel or Hezbollah ?

That Question was asked before and everyone then agreed that it will be Israel... now Israel today withdrew it ground forces from Hezbollah strongholds with ever more casualities... The definition of wining is achieving one's objective by the use of combination of military and political means.. who do you think will ultimatly fullfill his objective?

i also think no winner is likely to prevail. the winner of course will be iran and the loser will be the united states. this latest conflict has crystalized a moment for the world when the US, GBR, and israel are on one side and the entire rest of the world is on the other. mostly i think the world has had enough of the BUSH administration and has laid its marker down here, and will wait for the american people to decide if they don't feel the same, when they vote this november for congressional updates. iran wins this one while it parades america's impotence around the world for all to see.

Israel will probably lose. All this war has done is hurt Israel's standing in the world and create sympathy for the Hezbollah terrorists. I don't think that Israel will get its soldiers back without arranging a prisoner swap, which will be a diplomatic victory for Hezbollah. The only real hope Israel has is re-invading with a much larger force, and taking over pretty much all of Lebanon, which will only make the Arabs angrier.

I expect Israel to prevail. Any force that uses its own civilians as human shields cannot long maintain popular support. I also have ZERO sympathy for civilians that see Hezbollah firing missiles from their neighborhoods and doesn't flee. Especially since so many in the Mideast attribute superhuman ferocity to the IDF and see no Israeli concern for Arab/Muslim civilian deaths.

They cannot say both that Israel doesn't care about killinig civillians and tolerate Hezbollah weapons in their midsts. The civilians had their warning to flee the area when they knew the missiles were being placed in their neighborhoods of fighters living in their buildings. If you sow the wind you will reap a whirlwind.

I wish Israel a complete, if not speedy, victory

No one in that region can touch the IDF on the ground or in the air. Not even close.

It is up in the air who the ultimate winner will be in terms of objectives. It is not like conventional conflitcs where both sides want "this" piece of land.

The Jews win if they live another day. Hezbollah wins if it ultimately wipes the Jews from the planet to the last person.

NEITHER! The only result of the present conflict will be massive destruction of resources - human and others! And, the main beneficiary is likely to be USA which exports additional arms to Israel to sustain latter's war machine! And, Israel wants more arms and that is why Condi is rushing back there again - not to seriously work on a cease fire!

Isreal , 100%, with war their is always casualties. With Iran and syria supplying and supporting hezbollah, they will leave no choice but for the allies of isreal, (which is more that just the US), to get physically invovled, they will win because they will accomplish the goal isreal set out to do, an international force implanted at the southern border until lebanons fear of hezbollah is reached......

It depends on how you define lose Hezbollah will most likely survive but be weakened so that could be a victory for Israel but it could be a loss since Hezbollah could continue with their operations since Hezbollah is a group of terrorists they will not be easy to find.

Israel will win just like always because they were attacked and Hezbollah started this war. Eventually other countries may get involved. Israel has the clear advantage in weaponry, manpower, and skill.

Withdrawing Israeli troops should be greater cause for concern to Hezbollah as it probably will precede massive air and artillary strikes.

Is war a really nice spectator sport for you in the comfort of your armchair?

    Nobody ever wins in war.

Israel could clearly be victorious given its military prowess. Unfortunately when that strength is fettered by foreign influence calling for restraint, while your adversary has no regards for outside voices of temperance, the situation looks bleak.

in the end it will be israel, because countries will not want to harbor hezballah again. hezbollah will run out of hiding places. isreal will not have to fight forever. other countries have seen now that they should take care of their own people, and let the terrorists fend for themselves.
