2 religions, 2 countries, 2 weddings?
Should we? He's Muslim and I'm Unitarian. I know it's expensive but we were thinking of having two ceremonies, one here and one in Iraq, his home.

Why bother with religion. If you are going to hold two function separately what is the meaning of marriage !! Marriage means unification. Not only unification of two soul, its unification of two families and friend circles too.
I recommend you arrange one ceremony with the theme of UNITY. Who does not like unity and not joining the ceremony are actually not your family or friend.
All the best.

Exact same case with me only he turned to become a Muslim like me while we were friends ...so now its his family's religion and the nationalities that are of concern... we had the same idea of having 2 weddings in our home countries ...but that changed after the Lebanon crisis (he's lebanese & Im Egyptian...) so we will end up doing it in Dubai, UAE where we currently live and invite key family members and friends over...
For you..if there are no obstacles...go for two weddings... to have everyone there...
And All The Best!!

i think its a great idea...because you both are getting the best of two worlds...love doesn't have a price....some people never get the chance of a traditonal wedding with their families
