from soy to cow milk formula? is this ok?
my son is 4 months old. When he was 2 months the pediatrician swithched his milk from cow to soy because she claimed that the pimple like skin on his face was an allergic reaction to the cow milk. But he had baby acne.
Now he is eating about 6 oz every 3 hours but he has been spitting the milk alot with LOTS of saliva. I have used Enfamil soy, similac soy and now nestle soy cause he is always very constipated and the doctor recomended to buy the cheapest formula.
The new pediatrician said that the skin rash is not an indicator of any allergic reaction. I now want to switch to the Lipid AR from Enfamil since my son's spitting is getting out of control.
Can this be done?

Usually once an infant has been put on soy formula they stay on it until they switch to regular milk after they are 1. But, you can always ask your pediatrician if it is ok to switch back to the regular formula.

Switching formulas frequently could be a problem. I'd stick with the soy based formula until he's about 11 months, then I'd slowly do portions of both combos. I know the soy probably smells a little to you, but in the long run, it really is better nutritionally for your son.

I'd see a lactation specialist. You CAN begin lactating again. It's the best for your baby. Cow's milk is for baby cows. Soy products, while better than Bovine substitutes, are still not optimal for a baby. Many groups feel that the estrogen producing izomes in soy are the cause of early menses and fertility in young girl children. (Most menopause supplements are made from soybeans)

yes but i would wonder why he is spitting up so much? If he does have reflux or a sensitivity to the formula i cant imagine that going back to cow's milk is going to be any better? I guess you could try, see what happens.

Speak to the doctor about this. We're not the ones who have seen your child since birth.
Best to be safest and talk to the doc.
