Is it possible for Satan to insinuate himself into religion?

Islam, Christian, Judaism, Hinduism, Paganism, Sikh, Shinto, Buddhism, etc. Can these religions be infiltrated by Satan?

I promise that am not attacking these beliefs, I am merely asking you to think. Please come back later and read my conclusions.

Update:

Please see my 360 for conclusions - read the blog entry "Satan, hatred, and fundamentalism".

    Yes. Assuming he exists.

Satan could do the most damage to religion by becoming an imposter and a false prophet/leader for them.

Nothing says he hasn't done so already.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Luk 22:31 And the Lord said: Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat.

Luk 22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and thou, being once converted, confirm thy brethren.

Luk 22:2 And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put Jesus to death: but they feared the people.

Luk 22:3 And Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariot, one of the twelve.

Luk 22:4 And he went and discoursed with the chief priests and the magistrates, how he might betray him to them.

Luk 22:5 And they were glad and covenanted to give him money.

If Satan could do this right under Jesus' nose, what might he do today?

Just look at the sex scandals in the Catholic church, the protestant televangelist scandals, and the blatant homosexuals who are now leading the Anglican church.

I'm afraid "We ain't seen nothin' yet!"

He already does. Satan's behind why so many religions teach lies such as the doctrine of the trinity, hellfire, the immortal soul, and so on and so on. These teachings are completely inconsistent and out of harmony with the Bible. And obviously Satan's tactics are working because so many are deluded into thinking those things are truth when they're clearly not.

Satan? Do you mean the mythical evil figure who gets blamed for all of the bad things in the world, such as war, starvation, poverty, more war, global warming, greed, and more war? That Satan?

Or are you referring to the leaders of the world who make the mistakes in the name of God? Such as a certain President who believes that God wants a war in Iraq, and the same President who will not intervene in the Israel/Lebanon crisis?

If you think carefully about FACTS and pay less attention to mythical figures, then you will learn the truth.

Satan is well versed....he is in the Book of Job...he appears to tempt Christ in the Gospels. He quotes scripture to Jesus during the temptation. He can appear as an Angel of Light.

Satan is far more dangerous than people realize. He is deeply involved in religion in a very transparent way in order to pull people off the path of light and into the darkness. He knows scripture better than any human alive...any. And he uses his knowledge to kill (spiritually) humans

    Read Revelation Chapter 12.

    Israel is the woman.

Jesus is the child who was born.

Can you guess who the serpent is?

What religion is against Israel and Christianity and sworn to it's destruction?

What power do you think could possibly be behind that religion?
