why break the addiction when you can meld with your chair and become a non bathing hermit?

That depends on how you define "real" human contact. I feel this is a method of human contact, and a pretty cool system. Are you helping people out by answering questions? If you are passing on valuable knowledge, then perhaps it is worth it to continue...

people are addicted to each other, anyway. We are social creatures, on any level.

We can't. I think they put the same chemicals as what is in cigarettes to get us addicted. And on that note, only 300 more points till I reach level 4! Almost makes me feel like a Scientologist....

It's a hard one to break. In about a month, well 5 weeks, I am on level 5!

After awhile it starts to feel repetitive. Just remember, you can't go to a movie with it...

Its not harmful. So far it has replaced my longing for contact with other Americans. I actually missed the day to day ridiculous questions and responses my American friends and I would play at, and Yahoo Answers has filled that void. Amazing isn't it?

Source(s): I don't live in the US right now and its too expensive to call my friends every day.

It's addicting, but will never replace real people in your life. It can be a fun diversion in the meantime, have fun and when you grow tired of it you will leave.

There's no substitute for being in the same room. Think about calling a college friend or a favorite cousin; it's good, but wouldn't you rather have seen them?

Both yes and no. Human contact can be most pleasurable and most annoying. Yahoo! Answers is cold and distant.

So you have a competitive spirit and want points and recognition - normal!!!!

Well it's hard to meet a lot of people in today's society. Everyone works and has their stuff to do and computers just make it a convenience.
