would you rather be deaf or blind?

o.k so say you had a massive tumor on your brain and had to have an opperation right away. but befor they slipped you unconsious they told you this: we can do this two ways, if we go in one way it will leave you blind, if we go in the other way, it will leave you deaf. and now you have a decission, what would you choose? how could you choose?

Though question, i think that with deafness you can deal better, i love music, i love the sound of a girl's sweet voice whispering love words, but there's so much beauty in the world that most of us can't see it even now...the simple things, if you saw Scent of a Woman you'll understand what I'm talking about it's a scene where Al Pacino replays "What life, I have no life, I'm in the dark here". And i don't think that you should be blind not to judge a person, because not to blind a person you must be blind on the inside, it doesn't matter if you see him or not, after all you'll end up with the same conclusion. So i choose deafness

I was asked this question whern I was about 10 and I said I would rather be blind. Because how could someone describe a new instruments sound if I have never heard it before, I would miss the sound of music, children laughing and playing, a babbling brook and many other things.

But if I lost my sight, I could get a mental picture of the things that were described to me.

About 20 years later I started to lose my sight and today I am legally blind, so I guess I made a good choice.

Deaf. So, I couldn't hear all the nasty vile things that people say. I know I couldn't hear music, but there is so much beauty that a world can be beautiful without music. And your other senses pick up on danger and such. So, I would rather be deaf. But as it is, I am almost completely blind and I hate it. My ears are very good and sometimes I have to wear earplugs because the noise hurts it is so strong.

I would choose to be blind. Because in this world, people judge each other and things by the appearances. If I'd been blind, I would not "judge a book just by it's cover" and listen to the details. Even though a picture worths a thousand words, but that's only opinions, and I want to HEAR opinions from other people, and not just stick with mine.

    edit

I am an artist too, but I'm sure if I put feelings in my art, anything is possible. Also, I can't stand complete noiseless, it makes my ears itch and my brain doesn't function well...trust me i tried.

DEAF... anyone that chooses blindness is just trying to prove a point and they are completely retarded. If you were blind you couldnt drive walk or do almost anything independantly. If your deaf, you just have to learn sign language and get addaptors for your phone, other than that, what? you cant listen to the radio? gimmie a break. everyone in the world would rather be deaf than blind

Blind, because: a million. i think that society as an total perspectives deaf human beings as a lot less sensible than blind human beings. 2. I suck at lip-analyzing. 3. a probability be a singer and musician without sight. 4. and that i could bypass insane.

I would rather lose sight than hearing. If I were to lose my eye sight, then I wouldn't have a reason to judge or criticize a person for how they looked. The ability to see is really what causes so much hate and prejudice—not that I'm blaming it entirely, but it's true. So many people judge one another based upon their appearance. I also loooove to listen to music. I would die if I was told I could never listen to music again.

i would choose to be deaf. with sight you can still watche t.v. travel the world and enjoy your family. You can read and everything. Being blind is the worst no driving to checking out hot guys. You are just lost with out sight literally!

Been deaf (for two weeks from an ear infection). My mom is also partly deaf. I can deal with deaf.

I am an artist though, so blindness would be very upsetting.

I guess I would choose deafness. I love to read, and deafness would at least making reading in noisy environments easier. Also, as long as I could avoid looking at someone, they couldn't tell me things I didn't wan't to hear.
