I don't know first-hand - but lala.com shows cds being shipped without the jewel case, covers, and liner notes...and it's just being shipped in an envelope (not boxed).
If you're near a reasonably large city I think you'd be better off finding a local record store / video store that buys and sells used cds and dvds.
As a back-up you could try one of the sites you listed for off-beat or hard-to-find titles.
Having said all that - both of the sites seem to charge fees on a per transaction basis rather than monthly fees. Other than a little investment in the time to sign-up and to list your items for trade you could probably give those services a shot with at least one cd / dvd at a time and see how you like it - the most you're at risk of losing is a cd / dvd that you were willing to get rid of anyway.

i exploit Swaptree, and that i admire them so far. Like paperswap you additionally can print out postage from on line. the positioning is ordinary to apply, I rather have traded approximately 30 books and so far i individually haven't any grievance.
