What does A-Rod have to do?
As a Met fan, I naturally don't understand Yankee fans. What does A-Rod have to do in order to gain the favor of the fans? Give the man a break, all he's done is put of herculian numbers and win an MVP award. Not to mention that after all this abuse he'll probably go into the HOF in a Yankee Cap. Mussina hasn't won a World Series or a Cy Young award in a Yankee uniform, yet all of you kiss his feet. Has anyone thought that booing him only causes him to make these errors?

I will not criticize A-Rod eventhough his errors during games started by my favorite player, Mike Mussina, are costly. Of course it's frustrating that such a gold glove infielder make that many errors. But I will not boo him for that. Excessive booing is a sign of giving up. Being a fan, I will support my team through the rough times. With that attitude, it's more fulfilling if your favorite team/player wins knowing that you supported them all the way.

A lot of it has to do with the 25 million and the fact that A-Rod is not a money player. He compiled most of his stats with teams that were out of the pennant race very early in the season. The Yankees are usually in the hunt every year. He's not use to that kind of pressure. His defense has been terrible lately and I think Mussina has a right to complain. Everyone seems to be protective of A-Rod and that's wrong. He has to be held responsible for his poor play lately. Don't forget, A-Rod hasn't won anything either since he's been in the game. If he's too thin skins to play in New York than maybe he should ask to be traded at the end of the year. With the lineup the Yankees have, they don't really need him. Personally I think A-Rod is a decent person and I like the guy but maybe he and Yankees are not a winning formula.

If you are making 20 Million dollars a year you should be able to take the booing. He needs to come up big when teams need it most like in the playoffs. He was a joke in the playoffs last year and will continue to be a joke until he puts up some numbers in the postseason. All of the greatest Yankees players in the past have put up monster numbers in the post season. He will continue to be an embarrassment until he does that. It is clear that he plays for the money and not the love of the game.

Even mentioning Barry Bonds in the same breath as A-Rod is ridiculous. No one should respect Barry Bonds. He is a cheat and doesn't deserve to play the beautiful sport of baseball. If A-Rod was on any other team besides the Yankees, fans would be kissing his feet. The Yankees don't deserve to have him. And this is coming from a die hard Mets fan!

Its true, yankees fans need to be more like giants fans. Bonds is battin .246 this season, but they still love him. When he gott ejected in the 9th inning of a game last week, the fans threw garbage on the field in show of their support, AND the guy is batting .246 for crying out loud. Giants fans are a lot nicer. Yeah, they are treating A-rod badly, he's still put up good numbers, but hey slumps do happen. A baseball player cant always be perfect. Every baseball player falls into a slump one time or another. By next year, he should be good as new.
