How long does it take for the Depo Provero shot take to wear off?

My husband and I are trying for our second child. Recently I quit taking the Depo Provero Shot. I have been off the shot for 8 monthes and I still have not had a period or thought that I was pregnant. I have even taken pregnancy tests but they are alway negative. How long does it take for you bady to get back to normal?

When I was going to go on the shot after my son, my doctor told me that the depo shot all depended on your body for the wearoff time. Some women may be fertile in a month, some may take a year. Your body needs to regulate your period (which the depo throws all out of kilter, ovulation time wise) again before you can get pregnant. I'd call your Dr & ask or try your local health dept, they can tell you I'm sure.

I have heard it takes over a year for you to get your period back, then other 6 months before you start ovulating, BUT I heard the same thing about the pill and I GOT PREGNANT the month I quit it so, it depends on your body but the syntetic hormones in the shot last for a long time after you quit it so, just give it some time.

After my second boy me and my husband wanted a girl. So we decided that I wouldn't get the shot because we knew it took a long to wear off. Well we finally had our girl when our second boy turned three.

it can take 18-24 months from your last shot for it to get out of your system, if you would like to speed it up, try a cycle or two of birth control pills, it helps bring your period back and straighten things out..I had to do that to get pregnant last time.

    Good Luck!

About a year! But I am sure that everyone can be different.
