What about all the long answers?

I really hate when I want to answer a question and there is a long long long answer that takes me forty mouse scrolls to get it over with. Or when people answer me with those. I mean, info is good but why do so many people here go into overkill?

Update:

I mean, like in the recipes section, people feel the need to cut and paste whole cookbooks, or in science, they need to put the entire article. Why not just put in an answer and a link?

I guess it irritates me when some answerers try to bury others with toooooooo much.

your right. i've heard that the more you talk, and i can't remeber what article. i think it most likely was here on yahoo, because i pretty much spend most of my net surfing time either on yahoo or myspace. and i've heard that those are in the top of the most visited websites in the US. I wonder why they only said the US? but either way in that said article it mentioned that most people seem to lose the focus of their answer when they talk to much.

i think the vaguer the answer the more people will like it because they can interpret the answer to make sense in their live...i mean have you heard politians answer questions? they're so vague so far from giving a yes or no answer... i hope that helped.

What one person feels is an answer, someone else doesn't. One person may feel one or two words answers the question, someone else may feel that they need to write a sentence or two, and others a paragraph or two. Everyone writes what they think is their best answer to a question.

Some questions require a lengthy answer. If you don't like reading them, don't, but you might miss out on something really good.

They just want to express themselves, and sometimes long answers can be helpful, too. If you do not like long answers just say so in your question.

those long answers are for ppl who want an answer and an explanation, or those who like to explain themselves
