What is a sure way of curing hiccups. I have it everytime I drink water.?

It's driving me nuts. It runs for at least thirty minutes. Do you have any suggestions?

I get hiccups when i chug water to fast.

To get rid of them, i always drink something slowly for a few seconds that is heavier than water and at room temperature. Such as Grape juice which has a fair amount of sugar. The is like the surgar water idea AND the holding your breath for a couple of seconds for losing the hiccups all in one shot.

hold your breath for 10 seconds..if you hiccup during those 10 secs start again

    get someone to frighten you

I think I heard something about a spoon of sugar

there is one about water but considering that is the problem there is no point in telling you that one

  • I sometimes get them if I wait until I'm too thirsty before having a drink. Try drinking smaller amounts of water throughout the day so you're never so thirst that your body tries to swallow the water too fast.

I don't know for sure this would work for you, so you might want to give this a try: What I do is drink a large quantity of a carbonated beverage, and then belch like crazy. Hope it works out for you, good luck.

I was going to tell you about putting a spoon full of sugar on your tongue but someone beat me to it. My niece had them for 2 days and did this and it worked with in minutes. So I will second that one.

    This works for me:

Breathe in and out as fast and deep as you can for about 30 seconds, then hold your breath for as long as you can. When you take your next breath, make it a deep one.
