why do peaple let dogs lick there them on the face or mouth - this is really gross?

I love dogs (I have 2) and I have always heard that dogs' mouths are cleaner than humans, but I do not let my dogs lick my face, especially my mouth...I think it's gross, too. I love my family and friends too, but I wouldn't let them just walk up and lick my face!

I thought it was gross too before i had a dog but now i dont mind her licking my face ^.^ Oh before i forget, for a fact Dogs' saliva are way cleaner than humans' When a mother dog licks her puppies most of the harmful bacterias are actually being killed. So dun worry about the licking. Think we should start worrying about kissing some other human beings instead.

Because they love their dogs! I heard that a dogs saliva is alot cleaner than ours. That's why when they have a boo-boo they tend to lick on it to help heal it fast. That's what I heard. I had dogs but I never let them lick me on the mouth, yeah it was gross but I still loved them just the same.

Because they love their animals, and it can be no worse than changing saliva with a member of the opposite sex, can it?

Animals are honourable, honest and loyal and need affection like us humans, and while I tend to agree it isn't appropriate all the time, as we all know what they do, their tongues are a lot cleaner than most humans.

If you don't let dogs let them lick you then it will think that you dislike them. It may be disgusting but hey it lets dogs know that you like them.

I never consciously let a dog lick my face, but sometimes, they catch you off guard!

it is a sign of affection. i know it may be gross but actually dogs have the cleanest mouths. you can teach them not to do that , but it will take some time to do it.

when they do that they are showing affection towards you

in a way that's how a dog get's to know a person! but other times, they are doing that to say they love you. or they just want to play with you

Because some people think their dogs are their babies so they feel really close to them and kiss them. Its just like you making out with somebody! except people do it because they dont think their dogs are hot, its cus they love them like a baby.
