Well, you are improving, you are up to 7% now. So you are doing something right.
My impression of the situation is, since they took away points for rating, more people are now answering questions to maintain their point average. Questions that received 1 or 2 answers are now getting 5 or 10 answers and your chance of being selected the Best Answer goes down.
So, the mere fact that you came up 2 % is a good increase.
One of the tricks to getting votes seems to be getting in the first 3 or 4 answer range, because if the answer goes to a vote, many people want to get their votes in quickly so they tend to vote the first 4 or 5 questions. Heaven help you if you are on page two or three.
Good luck and keep trying. You do get better as time goes on.

Well if you answer 100 questions and 5 out of those were picked as the best answer in one day, you will be sitting at 5%. If this happens every day (answering 100, and 5 of those get chosen as best answer), your percentage will remain the same. Going by the fact you have 17 best picks, out of I don't remember, you are sitting at 5%. If you have been answering questions, and remaining at 5%, for weeks, the best I can say, is a mathmatical fluke.
After examining farther... You have 94% for reg answers, and 5% best... You are somewhere in the middle of either going up to 6%, down to 4%, based on how many answers you do, and weather you get voted best answer.

You're dreaming, knucklehead. You've only had 17 best since April. None recently. The only logic is simple math. The criteria is: best answers divided by total answers x 100 = %. So: 17/295 = .0576 x 100 = 5%

Divide the amount of total answers by 100, and then your best answers by that number and if should roughly add up to your percentage.
