How do we get rid of e-mail spam?

I'm probably not the only one who is tired of spam. Why is it so difficult to find and punish people that send out bulk spam? Is it so hard to collect abuser's mail address/IP and check all mail against an abuse list before they drop down in my inbox? Are there other ideas to rid the world of spam?

Hope the next president will start a war against spam :-)

A non-technical solution would be if everyone would just stop purchasing products from these spam sites. Unfortunately people actually buy products from some of this spam and of course in the business world, at least an unethical one, if you make greater profit then an initial investment costs, such as sending out spam, you will continue to do it. In the mantime, Mozilla's Thunderbird email client (www.mozilla.org) is a great free email client with built in spam filtering. A good product for Outlook is CloudMarks anti spam plugin.

You can start you own private war against Spam. See the private email system at http://viabruce.newnetmail.com/ . Its FREE and you can share it with all your friends for free. If anyone upgrades to extra features you can earn money. Only email addresses that you have registered in your account can send mail to your box. Great for communications between family and friends. I keep my regular email for online purchases and sign ups.

Some one already tried that and its got something to do with the 'freedom of speech' act in the US' If you download 'Spamfighter' it gets rid of your spam. Set it up and if you use another email program, then it is used by that one too, if it is compatable with Microsoft. Outlook, Outlook Express, Incredimail. Or you could download 'Choice Mail Free' from digi protal. good luck.

I don't believe it's possible to get rid of 'all' the spam, but it's certainly being worked on.
