How do I get the scent of onion from my skin?

Often, after cutting or cooking, with onions, my skin, or hands, smell like them. Is there some way of treating the onions so that they don't scent my skin like that?

Rub lemon juice on them and if you have a stainless steel sink in your kitchen, rub your hands over it a few time really briskly. I hate that onion smell too, it seems to get worse before it gets better, but the lemon juice will help.

I find that rubbing garlic or raw fish all over my hands removes the scent of onions quite efficiently....ohman, I've GOTTA stop channeling Gracie Allen....

The best solution I've found is just to keep a bar of deodorant soap near the kitchen sink and wash my hands well after handling anything smelly. If you're still having trouble, lemon juice is also good for removing odors, as is vinegar. And rubber or nitrile gloves work well.

Refrigerating onions will reduce the amount of odors associated with causing TEARING, but don't know if this cuts down the scent on hands or cutting boards. Give it a try....

The easiest way, and safest, is to wear gloves. The juice permeates your skin, so you could use lemon, or try cutting them in a pan of ice cold water (it closes the pores of your skin a lot) and then use a hot rinse and wash for your hands with a dish soap like dawn.

Don't try to treat the onion...Instead try rubbing your hands on metal. Like your faucet, or a spoon. It works great. The smell goes away immediately. Works for garlic too.

wash your hands with lemon and strong soap ,

    a few times

I took culinary arts in a vocational high school and onions make me sneeze so my mom bought me a metal bar.

Check my link. It's the best to get any yucky smelling foods out of your hands.

Lemon juice is really effective in removing that odor. I always use it as a handwash after working with onions or fish.

Use soap with a citrus scent on your hands or just rub some lemon juice on your hands before washing them.

You can rub them in a little lemon juice or you can use vinegar. Both will work nicely. You can also rub baking soda on and then wash off. I use these methods often. They work.
