What's the weirdest "alternative" therapy you've experienced, and did it work for you?
I do weird stuff. I'm a Reiki Master/Teacher, Aromatherapist, Sound Energy Therapist, and also work with crystal energy and homeopathy. I tell my clients that this stuff is weird ... I know it's weird ... and it still delights and amazes me every time it works. I've become quite skilled in what I do and am looking to expand my services and knowledge.

... You know it's funny to really consider,.. but when you really ponder it,... everything in this life is weird.... Really. .. I mean just look at the human body itself. ... It is an incredible and awesome creation, absolutely,.. .but it is also extremely weird. .......... We .. and this entire experience called life,.. are and is,.. simply very strange and weird. ........... I mean who writes this stuff anyway?
So to attempt to answer your more specific question,... it is hard for me to choose one alternative therapy and say that it stands out as weird to me,... but if I had to make a choice,. I think I would say,.. Hyperbolic Breath Work,... such as what is known as 'GROF WORK',... or 'REBIRTHING' .......... This is hyperventilation as a means to access the unconsious to allow the release of repressed traumas for the purpose of healing. ......... It is another form of what the yogi's refer to as pranayama...
.... This is a very powerful and often quite dramatic healing tool. It has worked extremely well for me when I used it at different times over the years. I have also seen it do incredible things for others I have met.

I have 8 Reiki masterships, I also teach Holographic Sound Healing, I'm a certified reflexologist and I do Mayan/Aztec astrology readings. So I'm into some pretty weird stuff.
The weirdest treatment I ever got: my friend who is also a Reiki master paid $3000 for a machine that was supposed to generate healing energy. Basically you sat between the machine and a big panel with semi-circles of copper on it. She charged people the same amount to sit in the machine as she did for Reiki but I got a test run for free. I was wearing a bra with magnets in the back for back pain at the time. The magnets disintegrated when I washed the bra that night and my back hurt worse than ever--I found out why when I looked in the mirror-I had very bad 1st degree burns exactly where the magnets had been on my back! So no, it didn't help. I felt sick for days afterward, the way I feel after an x-ray or other imaging technique.
You might want to investigate other forms of Reiki--I can teach 8 but I know a few more. I do a form of polarity therapy called magnetic therapy (misleading because there are no magnets involved) which goes really well with Reiki--it's very basic, just a few ways to "put" energy into a specific place or "take" (drain) an abundance of energy from a place. I integrate my Holographic Sound Healing into my sessions and always do a bit of reflexology on the hands and feet (take a real reflexology class, don't try to learn from a book or video). You might also look into flower essences and maybe making your own flower and gem essences.

i did Reichian Body therapy (as in Wilhelm Reich) years ago. A lot of intense body movement, yelling, sobbing, and what ever really. I was quite a hot mess back then. I'd like to think that it was useful and helpful to me. It wasn't immediate irradication of my addictions and quirks but it sure helped me think about my life in a serious way. I quit smoking, started exercising, eating healthy, got married. I am an extremely happy person today and have been for a good 20 years. I also tried acupuncture for digestive problems... That too, was not immediate, and my troubles may have gone away any how, but the acupucture itself was quite an experience. Once the dr started inserting the needles, I would immediately fall fast asleep. 45 minutes to an hour later I would wake up and harldy know what hit me. It was the most restful sleep ive ever had. (for such a short time).

To be honest, the most weird treatment I've tried is acupuncture... I don't put a lot of faith in homeopathy or anything that has not been adequately proven to work
On the other hand, if it is reasonabley priced, has no side effects, and it helps some people, then good on you.
I wouldnt try to talk someone out of it, but I would secretly be thinking... 'placebo... placebo....'
Hope you keep helping a lot of people.

That is an interesting question - as all that you have listed I would not consider wierd - as I do all of those things. And try my best not to think of myself as weird, for it works, is real and true.
I guess as far as alternative methods go - the weirdest I have encountered was a colon cleansing. Although it is supposed to be great for the colon, clearing the body of all old waste, energy, etc and returning to a state of balance. The process itself was weird, kind of discomforting and energetically strange to be in a room with one person going through that very intimate process.

hi--i'm involved in essentially the same practices as you, including 22years with reiki, 12 teaching. the most unusual, probably, because the equipment is very expensive, and it's hard to find someone who has it available, and is willing to share, is work with the rife frequency machines. they are, in essence frequency generators, and through the use of a set of frequencies, counteract that which is "causing the problem". as is probably your case, i'm pretty sensitive to energies and could feel the different frequencies interacting with me. it was quite interesting and seemed to be quite helpful. i didn't have much "wrong", so i was mostly balancing and detoxing. you could google royal rife (the "inventor's" name)or rife machine to get started. :-) needless to say there are the usual AMA and other charges of quackery, but, of course, the "stuff" works. btw a site you might find interesting: http://www.sahajayoga.com/

I once had high blood pressure, diverticulosis, acid reflux, hyper cholesterol, and diabetes. I had to have my gall bladder taken out and almost died twice. 2 weeks after surgery I had a very intensive treatment by 2 Reiki Masters in combination with a crystal cleansing from a well versed Witch. Believe it or not after 6 months my doctors took me off of all of my medications and all of my health problems just dissapeared. He called it a miracle. I am now a Reiki Practitioner mostly so I can Reiki myself but I amaze people at work whenever I relieve their headaches, remove their tensions and in a couple of cases relieved menopausal symptoms. Now everyone comes to me and I dont charge them but I tell them that donations will be appreciated.

My husband built several zapper's, using electric current . Got the idea from a Hulla Clark book if I remember right. It really seems to help get rid of the flu bugs. He has lots of books from the health stores.

I am also a Reiki Master/Teacher and a massage practitioner who works with crystal energy. All great modalities of healing. I am now broadening my horizon with Tantra, I feel that it really completes me.

I work with DNA using energy to activate and heal on the cellular level. It also helps remove ancestral patterning. I have had some astonishing results and so have my clients.
