Sugar and salt last forever. Both can be used to preserve foods. Both taste great in foods so preserved. Buy big! Your fruits will last longer if kept in a simple syrup made of water and 20-65% sugar (amount depends on your taste buds and on the acidity of the fruit). Molasses, honey, and maple syrup will last the entire tribulation. Sugar substitutes never spoil. Sugary foods may be considered luxuries, but there is a good argument to be made for including "comfort foods" in days of affliction. Salt will be useful in preserving fish and other meats, as well as butter (use 2.5% salt) and cheeses.

...or is it some kind of trick question, like starch stored in plants as food?

Africa does not stay on on charities, I heavily dont understand the place you obtain that from. contemporary human beings have survived there the longest 200,000+ years. The richest continent Europe has purely been inhabited for the final 40,000 years. i think of Africa subsequently has the superb music checklist for survival. examine weapons, germs and steel it is going to coach you slightly on why some factors of the international stepped forward quicker than others in any different case each and every little thing of the international stepped forward in some form. we are all human beings and no source you will come across will say in any different case.

Honey and Bananas(bananas are rich in potassium, why do you think they use potassium sorbate as a preservative so often?). Also, twinkies do go bad, but they do have a really long shelf life.

McDonald's hamburger pattie. One guy put a McDonald's cheeseburger in his jacket pocket and forgot about it. One year later, he took it out, and it did not have any mold on the bun or burger. So he started a collection and puts one on this shelf he has every year.
