Am I qualified to pump my own gas?

Well, to better answer the question, is there a high instance of drive-offs on gas purchases? I mean, I know that if you drive off in WI, you will get your DL pulled and it is treated like a DUI (and those laws are pretty strict here in cheesehead land). Maybe that is their way of preventing them. If the station employee has to pump the gas, I am sure the likelihood of a drive off is greatly lessened.

Enjoy it. I am sure that it is nice in bad weather to allow some other sucker to stand outside and pump your gas, right?

Well maybe some people need jobs so now they are making other people pump their gas so more jobs open up.

I wish they would do it where I live cuz I hate it when old people pump gas.

First! they can't pull the Handel cuz of their arthritis.

Second! After they are done they get out the car and waddle all the way over to pay instead of driving

I think it's so funny because when I stop for gas in one of those states I think I'm definately more qualified than the people doing the pumping!

believe it or not I have seen people who are not qualified to pump gas. Earlier his summer a young urban badass pulled in behind me at a station and broke all the rules. Car was running, he was talking on the cell phone and he lit a smoke all while he had his hand on the nozzle handle. Pumpin go juice wit tude bro! In order to keep this fool from blowing himself up we ask that all of you refrain from pumping gas

I think you should just play it safe ask for the assistance of the gas station attendant; Later on, if your feeling bold, go ahead and remove the gas cap on your car but go no further, as you would likely be pushing the capabilities of your brain beyond repair.

It's got something to do with unemployment in those states. The state laws guarantee at least a few more jobs that people can have at minimum wage.

No. Only a well-trained, licensed technician should be allowed to pump gas at any time.

I took a bike trip to Washington state back in '97...passing through Oregon, I wouldn't let those goobers touch my bike. I pumped my own.

Obviously some state legislators did not have enough to do during their duty time, so they thought this up????

Wow -- I live in Florida -- going through the WORST Drought in many years, and we pump our own fuel into our vehicles and our cans.
