If it was my child, I would check them into an inpatient treatment facility. No question about it..tough love .

I think that all teens drink. I did more drinking when I was a teenager than I do now that I am of legal drinking age. My parents knew that I would get drunk on the weekends and party with my friends. The drinking that I did was too much for my family. We never had alcohol in the house when I was growing up and I very seldom have it in my own house. If the drinking is effecting his grades and he has mood swings and stuff then he has a problem. Try talking too him first and then check him into rehab if talking doesn't work. If he is not responsible while he is drinking (drives or gets in a vehicle with some who has been drinking and they are driving) and breaks his curfew that is when he needs to go to rehab...some drinking is normal...but anything can be abused.

Okies, this kid shouldn't be drinking at all. Talk with him about it and get professional help. If all else fails there is an institution I've seen that specializes in dealing with troubled kids, where they live on the grounds and can be watched by staff 24/7. If need be. Take a look at the Yellow Pages. Good luck!

Try and see if he wants help. He probably doesn't as a teenager but if you can put him in rehab that would be great. Usually they don't want to unless he is willing to get sober, but at least it opens the door to recovery for him and if he ever does want help, he will know where to go. Good Luck!

put that teenager into a rehab center pronto, also go for counseling not just for the kid but for every family member as a support group

The dude needs help ... perhaps professional help. Is there some way you could talk with his parents about your concern?

take him to a rehabilitation center, that is the only way, because since he is a teen he wont listen to you, trust me
