Who are Y! Answers big experts: losers?

people who've spent hundreds of hours helping people they don't even know?

Is it that they don't have a life? Are they losers? Anti-social types? Hopeless nerds? Don't they have friends with whom to spend those hundreds of hours, rather than sitting in front of a screen?

and how do the Yahoo! marketing types describe them? Anti-social nerds? They must have a low opinion of them or else they wouldn't need that they can lure them with points that buy nothing, i.e. make them work without pay?

Uhh, no. Most people here do have a life. The only reason they're on here is the fact that this is their break, or they were bored and had nothing better to do.

I myself am a college student. the only reason I'm here is to flex my mental muscles, aside from the usual academic workout I get everyday. I don't consider myself as an anti-social nerd, because I spend approximately more than half of my time, everyday, socializing (in Univbersities) as compared to the time I spend here.

You do raise a very good point, though.

Loads of people spend two or three hours a night zapping channels on their tv. The Y!A 'big experts' spend some of that time zapping through questions here, and perhaps they even feel a tiny bit more productive for it.

There are only about 150 people on level 7 (a few more each month). I'll grant you that those people have turned this website into a genuine hobby... sometimes even into way of life.

When you teach, you gain. There migh be a question which one asked on here and you got some idea but not enough to answer the question, the next thing you do is research and from there you have gained something. Well i dont sit on here for hundreds of hours, i come on here when i'm less busy and bored. And by the way yahoo did not plead to anybody to visit yahoo answers, you can come here if you like, Yahoo Forced no one. Its a game of choice. Think well before you ask questions dude! What if there were no one to answer your question (this very one) How would you feel? Embarrased?. Peace

See no one is a loser. I think that if one has contacts that at least checks on the question and sees that they have no answer they should at least offer up two cents and just say "Hello " then. In my case I answer all contacts with a star and my input when I can! Just as a reminder that I do care enough to try and make yahoo a better place! At least I can try for my contacts.

When I have nothing to do I'll answer a few questions. It's an easy way to kill time, and I wouldn't describe a person who's gotten a lot of points over the course of a long time a loser, though I do agree it is pathetic to spend your life trying to solve strangers problems for fun.

And I think we should get rewards for our points and such... maybe new stuff for avatars.

This appears to be your first question on Yahoo Answers. It is a very negative, intolerant and uninspired question. I would imagine that you must be very confused, indeed, to find people connecting and venting and exchanging ideas and helping others with knowledge and advice "without pay". More is occurring here than first appears. Much more. Shut up and learn.
