Stress and tension can be caused by your surroundings and work pressures. It happens when you are constantly doing things for others. At work, you are working for your employer. If you have your own business too, you are working for your customers. At home you may have people around you that only add to the existing stress. It means that YOU are not able to give YOURSELF any time at all. Just imagine a piece of machinery that does not get maintenance. Your mind and body becomes like that piece of machinery which lacks maintenance. Its squeaks, cries, works in fits and starts and ultimately breaks down. Unfortunately, in life, not many human beings are luck enough to have people around who would see that you are stressed and give you comfort, space and love. So, most times to successfully come out of stress and tension, you must firmly decide to take some time out for yourself. Treat yourself well, take a massage, read a book, go out to meet friends, drink a glass of wine and eat popcorn (not chips) watch TV, go shopping or just lie down in your mom's lap (or any other person close to you). And oh - the most important thing to do is to breath deep.

Exercise is great for ridding tension and stress.
And having fun....that's a great one. Have more fun.
Go to a gym and punch a heavy bag. Or, punch a pillow.
But fun is one of the best ones. That and exercise.
Another is to change the lifestyle that causes the stress, or at least take a different attitude towards it.

Thai Chi is good - especially if you have an instructor that does a guided meditation first. It forces you to slow down and concentrate on something other than what you're stressing about.
