What is the curse of the law (the Torah) ?

From the Message" Christ redeemed us from that self-defeating, cursed life by absorbing it completely into himself.......He became a curse and at the same time dissvolved the curse, so that we can see Abrahams blessing is for non-Jews too. We are all able to receive God's life, his spirit, in us just as Abraham did, by believing." I think the curse is living by the law. When you live only by the law, there is no grace, but with grace we can all be saved even if we broke the law. God's grace, giving us life we don't deserve, is the only way we can be saved, we can't be saved by obeying the law, because nobody is ever going to succeed.

The curse of the law is that there is no way to go to heaven. The law required perfection. You must be righteous. You must obey the commandments. The punishment for sin is death. Eternal death. That means hell. If you fail, even once, you're going to hell.

Christ redeemed us from the curse by dying in our place. Now we follow the law because we love God, not simply for fear of the consequences.

Romans 8:3(KJV) "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin (or by the sacrifice for sin) condemned sin in the flesh:" The curse is ETERNAL DEATH, from which there is no resurrection. Other texts are - 2Cor 5:21; Gal 4:5.

The curse is our sin. The law reveals our sin to us by showing us how much we fall short of God's perfect will for us. It is impossible to keep the law. But Christ took all of the earth's sin on himself and was sacrificed with it (became the curse) so that we do not have to keep the law to inherit eternal life, only believe on Him and accept His gift.

The curse is death. Especially the second death that leads to hell.

"The curse which the law threatens, and which the execution of the law would inflict; the punishment due to sin. This must mean that he has rescued us from the consequences of transgression in the world of woe; he has saved us from the punishment which by our sinful conduct, we deserve. The word "us" here must refer to all who are redeemed; that is, to the Gentiles as well as the Jews. The curse of the law is a curse due to sin, and cannot be regarded as applied particularly to any one class of men. All who violate the law of God, however that law may be made known, are exposed to its penalty. The word "law" here relates to the law of God in general, to all the laws of God made known to man. The law of God denounced death as the wages of sin. It threatened punishment in the future world for ever. That would certainly have been inflicted, but for the coming and death of Christ. The world is lying by nature under this curse, and it is sweeping the race on to ruin. "

Notice, if sin is what causes the curse, then sin must be our focus of your question. The Bible says, "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). The Bible teaches three kinds of death: physical, spiritual, and eternal. Those are the results of sin. The Bible does teach that unrepentant sinners will go to hell and then finally to the lake of fire, which is for eternity.

Notice the verses on this:

"And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone" (Revelation 19:20).

"And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever" (Revelation 20:10).

"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death" (Revelation 20:14).

"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:15).

* Notice: If hell is not for ever, then God is a liar. God's holiness demands that there is eternal punishment. Only Christ can save us from God's eternal wrath on sin! (Romans 5:9). Please read also these following verses (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 John 1:7-9).

There is no doctrine of "universal salvation". Only those that have the Son, have life eternal!! (1 John 5:11-12)

To my understanding it has nothing to do with human law, but rather God's system of justice (eye for an eye, tooth for tooth). A perfect man in Adam died to give away the world and our lives to Satan, so a perfect man in Jesus died to even the balance and bring us back. We no longer have to suffer the punishment of God's law (the wages of sin is death) because Jesus took that curse for us and died when he had committed no sin.

It is talk about the curse of being spiritually dead, through sin, thus we all are damned to hell with out some one, namely Jesus Christ (Word of God) to pay for us.

Death is one of the major curses of sin, and the second death is the worst portion.

The fact that the Law condemns us all. There are none who are blameless... everyone is found guilty before God. However the good news is that Christ redeems us.

Whoever wrote that, was not Jesus. ..and obviously had his own opinion on the significance of The Torah.

Remember... The Torah, and all that's in it is the seed for everything we connect with now.

By the way...even strict Jewish folks do not keep ALL the laws written down in The Torah....Those lost laws have to do with the Temple.
