It totally depends on where you want to go and how much time you have to spend.
I personally prefer the train, because you can get up and stretch you legs anytime you wish. You can sit and look out at the beautiful scenery as you go by.
My husband prefers car travel because of the freedom it allows. Of course, you can't get up an walk around, but you can go wherever you want whenever you want.
If you're in a hurry, of course air travel is the way to go. The bus is the least favorite.

It is my dream to travel the country in an RV with my family. My husband thinks i am insane. Of course, he does not like leaving the county, let alone exploring the country. But I like the thought of my kids being there with me and getting to see new and exciting things because I never got to as a kid.

a car. or if you have the time, try walking and explore the US like people did a long time ago. Then you can get a better understanding of the things they went through and maybe you'll be better able to appreciate how things are now.

Road Trip! with an unlimited amount of vacation time so you can spend as long as you like at each place you go to.

the great american road trip, baby. you, a great friend, your car, and crapload of cds. you understand a place so much better when you drive to it. you understand a country much more deeply when you drive through it.
