Why so little Chaffey/Laffey coverage compared to Lieberman/Lamont?
Both races involve moderate incumbent Senators facinig a challenge from within their own party by more "hard line" candidates? Lieberman/Lamont was big news and heavily analyzed, yet I've heard very little about the Chaffee/Laffey race in Rhode Island?
Why did the Democratic race attract so much attention, but the nearly identical situation with Republicans has recieved so little attention? (If Chafee loses today, I assume that will change).

Parts of Connecticutt are serviced by the NY broadcast stations so they played Lieberman/Lamont up big time. That set the ball rolling. Well that and the Israeli war. If Israel hadn't invaded Lebanon around the time this was occurring it may have passed a little quieter.
On top of that Lieberman saw he was being "Borked" by his own party and he has always been a favored liberal of the media.

Even in Rhode Island it has been fairly quiet. I think you will hear more when Chaffey faces off with Whitehouse the Democrat. I think if Laffey wins it will be a major upset and Whitehouse will crush him. All three of them are running half-a**ed campaigns. I have talked to the three of them and none of them are all that great. We need more regular citizens running for office instead of more spoiled brats.

The News Media wanted to help Lamont defeat Lieberman.
They felt that it was necessary for them to use their influence.
