Do tampons hurt?
I'm just now starting to put tampons in, like i'm about to try it and i'm so scared that it's going to hurt, and i have to get it in tonight because i have to swim tomorrow and my period just kind of 'showed up'. so do they hurt is my real question. should i be nervous?
i just tried to put it in and it won't go in. which hole is it? because i tried putting it in the whole where it looked like the blood was coming out of, but it wouldn't go in and it hurt, what am i doing wrong? are there any websites that give a detailed instruction that can help me?

Like everyone else said, they will only hurt (actually I would consider it a discomfort rather than actual pain) if you put them in wrong/sideways. When you buy a box of tampons (try junior or slim/slender ones) there will be a little instruction paper in there that will actually show you different ways to put it in. Since it is your first time, I'd recommend using the standing up, one foot on the floor and one foot on the toilet method. That always worked best for me when I started out. Good luck hon and don't be nervous!

Get the plastic applicators, not the cardboard ones, and they will go in smoother. Also, try the "teen size" or "slender fit" since you've never used one.
And IF you are going to use a lubricant, use ky jelly instead of vaseline or anything else. But honestly, if you are bleeding, you shouldn't need any lubricant.
Good luck. And try asking your mom! I bet she'll have some great ideas.

For first time users who are also virgins, insertion can cause some pain or discomfort. I suggest you use "Juniors", they're smaller and easier and should pose little problem for you. Once the tampon has been inserted, you will feel nothing at all.
If you wish to use a lubricant with the tampon, don't use Vaseline as one person suggested. Use a water-soluble lubricant like K-Y.

The only way they hurt is if you put them in sideways. Just use the smallest ones you can find, like junior ones.

No they don't hurt if you put them in right. I don't use them unless I have to though cause they make my stomach cramp worse. Don't worry about. It's easy to do and you won't even know it's there.

no...... the 1st few times its awkward to put and have in..... follow the instructions that came with them.....it takes some practice to get them in because people are often nervous about them....don't be nervous

They don't hurt unless you have it in very crooked, not in far enough, or you are dry inside. In any case, if it's uncomfortable, remove it and try again.

I've never had a problem with them hurting. You can put a dab of vaseline on the tip to help it go in. There are also slender fit ones.

nope, they don't hurt at all. In fact, you can't even feel them! But don't be nervous because then you'll be tense and you'll never get the tampon in that way!
