self-designed major, how to explain?
I have the option of designing a major which I would like to do but I have to be able to explain it.
It would consists of a certificate of public health, a certificate of non-profit management, along with multiple political science, history, and psychology classes. I would get more out of this self-designed major than I would a traditional major as with the non-profit management aspect I would be learning about grant writing and so forth and it's less focused on one aspect although public health, non-profit management , political science and psychology all suggest that I would likely either be looking to work for the government in some aspect or at a non-profit organization attempting to improve the lives of people or further studying people in graduate work.
This would be at the University of Iowa uiowa.edu

1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)1 decade agowhat should i know about bankruptcy?
So I have about 10,000 in credit card debt a good chuck of that is due to overage and late charges that I have accumulated in the past 6 years and several thousand in unpaid medical bills from birth to present day (the medical bills from my childhood were turned over to me when i turned 18). I'm graduating school soon and with student loans nearing 80,000 I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to keep my head above water and not default on my student loans (i understand that i cannot declare bankruptcy and include my student loans) I'm thinking the only way would be to declare bankruptcy on my outstanding credit card balances (i've tried working with the credit card companies and that's failed miserably ) and medical bills. I'm not planning on buying a home anytime soon the only thing i would maybe be looking to purchase anytime soon would be a car when my trusty 1995 finally kicks the bucket but according to the mechanic it has some time left.

4 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoI will be done with my bachelors degree this summer and I am wondering if I should just go to grad school?
I will have a B.A in Political Science a B.A. in American Studies - ya double major
and a minor in history
I have a 2.3 at the moment but that will be on its way up since i am retaking some classes i didn't do anything for over the summer thanks to some personal issues ...
i'm just not sure if i have enough time to pull the whole thing up to a 3.0 but i have been reading on some of the websites that a 2.7 is sufficient if a 3.0 is pulled off the last year of undergraduate course work
i'm not sure
any suggestions
the job markets not so bright at the moment
and going for my masters should give it time to settle up and stuff right? i guess there is also always the college professor path
for further education i am considering: either law school or a masters in either public policy or planning or public administration

2 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agodriving in winter weather nerves? different car?
I have my dad's car at the moment since mine just went into the shop back home and the day we switched cars winter decided to hit. Second time driving the car I spun at an intersection on my way to work next i spun on the two lane part of the road ended up on the shoulder facing the wrong way and the car turned itself off. Turned it back on got back on the road and spun onto the other shoulder and again the car turned its self off kept on my way to work almost spun at my turn to work. Now I've drove in the snow before but not with dad's car with mine and now I'm petrified of driving dad's car I hope the shop hurries cause I'm so much more shaken up about snow and ice than I was before the other day. Does knowing your car make a difference? I'm comfortable with my car and I'm not with dad's I don't know his breaks or his steering or anything really and I'm freaking out about the rest of my drives till i get my car back and it's stressing me out and it's gonna continually be winter this week it seems. What should I do in the mean time?
3 AnswersSafety1 decade agoshould i quit my job? I like my job just not the environment?
i am good at my job I've been in the current place for 6 months.
before that i was doing the same job somewhere else for 4 or 5.
my boss shows obvious favoritism to one of my co-workers who hasn't been there as long and several of us and whose slack we all have to keep covering for and that is starting to take its toll on me (and several of my coworkers). We also figured out that this coworker is making more than the rest of us even though her previous experience is outside of our line of work.
its a small company one member of management. Seven people in my position. One in another position and two in another and seven at most in the other.
I like the clientele and i have no other issues with any of my other coworkers and we mostly work really well together. None of us are getting as many hours as we would like thanks to the one who schedules herself at all these weird times and a good deal of us keep ending up scheduled on days we said we need off of CAN"T WORK!!!
what should i do?
3 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoexchange rates abroad, how much will i spend?
i was reading my study abroad info and it was talking about exchange rates which i don't understand. It also mentioned that in some countries i would be spending more then i would here but it mentioned that others I would spend less and others i'd spend about the same. Is there a way to tell this based of the exchange rate? Or how do i know?

2 AnswersOther - Music1 decade agoasking a coworker out? do or a don't?
my roommate thinks i should since i am attracted to him and enjoy his company (and so that i can get over my recent ex)
i think i shouldn't because i enjoy being attracted to him and it could end up being all awkward at work and we have mutual friends outside of work. I'm also not sure about the company polices on this.
should i risk awkwardness or leave it as a crush until one or both of us relocates to other employment?
what would you do or what have you done?

6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agodependent to independent status federal loans??
I'm almost done with my degree in American Studies (it’s a liberal art) I should be done in the fall but I have recently decided that I should either stay in school or return right away. I want to get my teaching certification for Social Sciences (it will take about two years) I just received independent status since I was born before Jan 1st of 1985 (barely) but I am worried about financial aid ..... I've gotten the maximum amount for a dependant undergraduate but I am no longer a dependant. From what I understand, you can't get federal aid for a second bachelors but what if I don't complete the first until I complete the second. Am I eligible for more federal aid now that I have independent status? I feel like teaching certification would benefit me greatly
also my school is nationally and even internationally recognized for its college of education.. and the students are recruited a great deal for teaching jobs in not only this state but other states and countries as well.
