what are good substitutes for fish and shellfish in recipes?

I'm allergic to fish and a good deal of my friends and family are allergic to shellfish and i keep finding recipies that have these things in them. Any other good subsitutes for other things would also be great sometimes its good to shake things up.

Update:

crabs, lobster, shrimp etc.. shellfish

nothing that lives in water is okay!

If you want to avoid seafood, stick with recipes for chicken, beef, pork, lamb, etc... recipes for seafood typically have seafood as the main ingredient. Find other recipes. There are plenty out there that do not include seafood- For example, shrimp wrapped wt\ith bacon is a traditional appetizer, but try this from Paula Deen:

    Sweet Chicken Bacon Wraps

1 1/4 pounds boneless, skinless, chicken breasts (about 4 breasts)

    1 (1-pound) package sliced bacon

2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar

    2 tablespoons chili powder

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cut chicken breasts into 1-inch cubes. Cut each bacon slice into thirds. Wrap each chicken cube with bacon and secure with a wooden pick. Stir together brown sugar and chili powder. Dredge wrapped chicken in mixture. Coat a rack and broiler pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place chicken wrap on rack in broiler pan. Bake 350 for 30 to 35 minutes or until bacon is crisp.
