    Find a recipe and follow it .. exactly.

    It helps to have an electric mixer for when you cream the butter and sugar at the start of the recipe.

    Step 1 - Go to a store and buy a boxed chocolate cake.

    Step 2 - READ the box and make sure you have enough eggs and oil and a proper sized pan.

    Step 3 - Follow the baking instructions on the box

    If you want Icing or frosting - buy a container and spread on cake after it has cooled.
