Does anyone else feel this way, or is it just me?

I can't stand it when i have to scroll down the page for 30 seconds because somebody's answer was just too damn long. I mean, if you want to quote the source, that's fine. Just give me the first few sentances and the link, and I'll look it up myself. I don't need an entire wikipedia article quoted on the Q&A page.

It's ridiculous and keep the really good answers from even being seen by most people.

Personally, when i see an answer that's too long, I give them a thumbs down, just so I won't have to scroll the whole page. Does anyone else feel this way.

I don't even read the really long answers. I just scroll down and give them a thumbs down so I can read everyone else's answers.

  • the whole point of quoting is that you know the source. it's a legality issue. ever heard of plagiarism? If you want to skip an answer because it's long, feel free but at least it's from a real source and not some crap that may or may not be real. As for people who complain about people not having their own thoughts, sometimes, it's better to provide an accurate answer than a guess...especially when there are tons of answers that are all different and most are pulled out of peoples a**es cause they don't actually know the answer! I think the people asking the questions might appreciate any help, regardless of the quoted source, as long as it's accurate.

Yeah... some people go overboard... but sometimes the longer answers show more original thought and perhaps are worth reading... but entirely quoting a source as an answer is so maddening and not very representative of a good answer.

I agree, some answers are too damn long and soo very boring when they are too long. And the ones that put in about 25 links are ridiculous.

I agree. I think this is much more of a game if you don't have to go and cut and paste the answer. I mean, you can research your answer, but to cut and paste verbatim, it would be a lot more considerate to just say "thanks for the 2 points."

I agree. Usually that kind of question is from some 12 year old who is in like and wants to know how to get him or her to like them back. Ugh.

yes I agree 100% I usually skip the whole answer

Yes, and I feel the same way about questions that go more than a paragraph.

Yep I just scroll right past all of it.

We live in a society where many people believe more is better. They are called more-ons.
