I mean he chews up the fence or digs holes by my fence and the neighbors and he goes through there back yard and gets out. I put bricks in front of the holes and he moves them and gets out.. I don't know what else to do.. He's a pitbull and alot of people are intimatated by him but hes soooo nice. My kids play with him all the time. So what should I do.? I just don't want someone to hurt him or youknow him to do something to a stranger......Please I don't know what to do.
I don't want to tie him up because I'm afraid he'll turn mean like most of the pits around here.

Look for an Exercise pen, or a large kennel-type thing.
This way, you can keep your dog enclosed, but not in a tight area, and not tied up.
It also sounds like he's bored. Get him a chewie, to keep him busy during the day. Kong toys work great (nothing but a hard rubber chewie), and both Kong and Midwest can be found at Petco or most pet stores.
Best of all, you can put some Peanut Butter in the Kong Toy, and watch him try to lick it out for hours...
Hope this helps. Best of luck!!

I would NEVER recommend putting a dog on a leash or chain. It can be dangerous (it isn't as uncommon as people think, that dogs DO hang or strangle themselves this way) and it is only going to make the dog miserable. I would recommend an electric fence (check Home Depot or Lowes--they can help you). As an alternative, I would also recommend something my husband and I once did. We dug a trench just underneath the fence (approx 3" deep and 4" wide) and filled it with wet concrete. After the concrete is dried, the dog cannot dig out, but will still have the freedom of running around the yard, but since your dog is also pulling the wood off the fence, this might not work. However, if he is mostly just digging, it is something to consider. It's cheap, it lasts forever and it really works.
...and if you don't like the looks of the concrete under your fence, you can put a shallow layer of dirt over the dried concrete and the grass will grow right over it.
Whatever you do, there is going to be some labor involved, so make it a priority if you can, because every day that goes by without a solution increases your dogs chance of meeting mischief with a disgruntled neighbor, or even get run over by a vehicle.

Go to a local building supply store and explain your problem and ask what kind of fence would prevent that. You expressed concern about someone hurting him, and that's legitimate. Some people will shoot a pit bull without asking any questions because of all of the bad pits there are out there and all of the attacks we read and hear about. I know I would be pretty upset if a pit bull came into my yard, I would have no way of knowing if it was mean or nice. Also, is he neutered? He is at the age where he's probably wandering because that's what "teenage boy dogs" do. Consider getting him neutered, it will deal with those hormones, he'll be less likely to wander, and he'll live longer.

Could there be a female in heat some place in the neighborhood?
You can also install a very low voltage wire around you fence perimeter. We had an Airedale that got out and the wire helped solve the problem. The voltage is just a mild shock and will not hurt the dog or children if you have any.
Depending on your local laws, your dog could be picked up by code enforcement and taken to a pound. Pit Bulls do not have a very good reputation, so anything you can do will help your dog not be impounded.

We had to put up a chain fence so our dogs would not chew through it. Then we had to build a dog run inside of the fence because they kept digging out. We had to cement the areas that they could still dig under. Our chows are very friendly and play with my son, his friends and his little cousins all the time. However, our neighbors do not want our dogs running free and neither do I. The last time the female got out (3 years ago) she was hit by a car. She survived but I don't ever want to go through that again.

Bury some mesh fencing just a few inches deep all around your yard and when he starts to dig, he will not like the feel of the mesh under his feet, so he should stop digging. Also, get a wood privacy fence. He will more than likely not chew a hole to get out.
That suggestion is kind of expensive, so I would actually try buying one of those invisible fences first. If that doesn't help, then you may have to spend more money and try my first suggestion.

You will need to line your wood fence with wire fencing so he cannot chew through it. You can anchor it below the ground, so digging will only get him more wire fencing.
I also would not leave him outside for very long unattended. Give him plenty of bones and toys that will occupy his time when he is outside. Make sure they are large bones that don't splinter. I get mine from a butcher and have them cut into 4" lengths.
If he continues to get out, you could lose him to some one who has heard all the nasty bully stories, and think that when he is coming towards them, he will hurt them. It is your responsibility to keep him safe, what ever it takes. It might mean that you have to create a pen that has cement floor with wire fencing set in the cement. Or, you keep him inside.
It sounds like you love him enough that you will do what it takes to ensure his safety, and the safety of others.

Well you better find a solution really quickly because if one of your neighbors chooses to be nasty they will have the animal taken to the pound. Also if your dog does misbehave or worse bites someone (and yes even nice pit bulls can do that) you are going to find yourself in a world of hurt.
Dogs like that needs hours of exercise every day, simply locking them in a yard is not going to satisfy them. You are going to have to get a shock collar or some other mechanism to stop him escaping, along with proper diet and exercise, otherwise you are going to find yourself arrested for being a bad pet owner.
Also if you have not had him fixed, you might want to do that too.

Invest in an underground pet fence. You can get one to install yourself for about $100. If he is an indoor/outdoor dog, only let him outside with supervision.
If the hidden fence and keeping him indoors is out of the question, it might be time to try to find him a new home. Look for someone who has lots of property where he can run.
Good Luck!

Having a big backyard is not enough. Dogs have an instinctive need to travel. Pits are high energy dogs. They need play , but more important they need to WALK! (2) 30-45min. walks minimum. They also need to socialize with people and dogs.If you don't walk and socialize him "He's gonna do it himself"If he is not neutered and there a B!TCHES in the neighborhood that too is a reason to go cruising. If you get him out to see the world ,he won't have to escape.
