What is the normal follicle size?
I am 28 yrs old, no children, told had endometriosis (mild) when i was 20. I took BC for 11 years, stopped feb 2005. We have been ttc for about 3 months. My dr put me on clomid 50mg and i took them days 3-7 of cycle. Today I had an ultrasound and she said I had two follicles on one side. Said one was very good, size was 25-31mm. and said the smaller one was about 19mm. She told me of my increased risk of multiple birth, and gave me the shot of P.>-%, whatever it was. She said to have intercourse today, sunday and tuesday. I would like to know if anyone knows how big the follicles are supposed to be? What are my odds of getting pregnant??

Well, 25-31mm is excellent! I don't recall ever having a follicle that size while I was on Clomid, even at 150mg/day. Way to go!
I remember being told that 16-18mm was the minimum acceptable size so you're doing good!
The shot was most likely an HCG shot and that's to trigger ovulation. Since you have 2 mature follicles you have a decent shot of getting pg because there's more than one target. Chances are that both won't be fertilized and implant but you've doubled the chance of at least one of them making it. The experts cite 15-30% of women will conceive in any given Clomid cycle.
Good luck!

I am 28 years old and have severely agressive endo, diagnosed 1 year ago. My doctor did several treatments including clomid with timed intercourse and IUI (Interuterine Insemination) with no success. I learned through a second opinion with a second fertility doctor that when you have endo you don't have trouble ovulating but the trouble is probably in your tubes. The second doctor recommended IVF which bipasses the need for your tubes. So my recommendation is not to put to much effort and money into clomid. Try to get your doctor to start you on the injectable medication next with IUI. Every month that passes with endo can make your chances much worse. Every month your run the risk of the endo growing directly on your ovaries which can render them unusable. (My right ovary is covered in the endo so bad that it is now no good and needs to be removed)
As for follicle size: When you take a HCG shot (to rupture the follicle to release the egg for fertilization) your follicles need to be around 28 mm. Your odds of getting pregnant depend on other factors. If your husband has good sperm count and good mobility, then your chances will be better. As for multiple birth chances, it sounds that you only had one follicle that was the right size so you should be fine.
Good Luck.

24mm is excellent size, follicles around 17mm to 24mm should contain mature eggs.
