does anyone suffer from pancreatitis and if so are you in pain constantly and if so what are you doing for it

My mother suffers from it too. She had her Gall Bladder removed, and the Dr. said it was a coin toss as to whether or not to take out the pancreas too due to it's poor condition. They left it in, and she has had sever pancreatitis ever since.

I do not have pancreatitis, nor do I wish to be diagnosed with pancreatitis. I have spoken to many men who have had this AND have had the pain along with it.

I met almost all of these men on the transplant floor of the University of Minnesota Medical Center - Twin Cities. They received a panreas transplant and they had the normal pain post surgery, but the pre-transplant pain was completely relieved.

I am thinking that when you said, "pain meds" that they were Rx? Motrin, Oxycotin, Tylenol/codeine? The pain you are feeling is a type of pain of which the meds will not eradicate.

I would get in to an endocrinologist or urologist if possible and if your insurance will pay for it. If you have been declared disabled, you can try to get on Medicare and they will help pay for a transplant if you wish to go that route.

I received a pancreas from a person my age who lived in Colorado. The surgery was in 2001 and I did have a few complications with rejection, but it was caught and medications had things running smoothly within a week of rejection diagnosis. Rejection is not the same as failure...

I do wish you the best of luck and can certainly empathize with pancreas pain. But please do get in to a doc before this becomes something that will end your life.

i don't know if what I say will be much help or comfort. Generally, with pancreatitis, we put the patient on either IV pain medication or pain shots. If it is acute, then we take them off food and run fluids through the IV until it resolves. For chronic, I am not sure. Have you tried the Duragesic patches?

.Your body can not process the pain medication. The pancrease is a big part of the digestive process. If it fails the pain meds can not do their job. Try and get off the pain meds. Sorry but you will never be 100% but go for the best you can be. Yes it does hurt. Big time sometimes.

Seek medical help asap!!!!! Pancreatitis is a serious condition that can even result in death. Your pain is not normal and is your bodies way of telling you there is something wrong. Please take my advise. I lost my brother a year ago due to pancreatitis. He was 41.
