I am 4 weeks pregnant with our 3rd baby. I already have a bump and its firm. I wonder am i carrying twins??

I am average to small and have lost all my baby weight with my other 2 pregnancies. If I wear a tshirt you can see this bump. I also am popping the zippers on my size 6 jeans. I have not gained any weight and have had a smaller appetite for the last 2 weeks.

Has anyone else experienced this -a bump thats already firm at 4 weeks!!!????

I will get an ultrasound at 6 weeks.

thanks!

I just had to respond to this...Alley Cat that was very rude and opinionated! She is just excited and I'm sorry to hear someone be all "Ms. Know-it-all" condeming to someone that most likely just wants to share and maybe get some feedback from other

MOTHERS that would care to share their info with her like the very gracious others did without being snubbish and snooty.

As for showing early...you may well be due to the fact your body knows what's going on...but please don't reduce your intake of food! Eat normally, or try eating smaller but more meals...to keep up your health...under 1200 calories a day is a no-no and that's if you're NOT pregnant...!

Get some baby books - or some of the free mags. My sister always got American Baby and a few others. SHE's had 9 kids and she always would go to parental forums and chats and would read the mags to see what was going on since the last time she was "baking a bun in the oven"....LOL

She has a daughter that's going to be 28 in dec. and a toddler that will be 4 in nov - and she's in her early 40's! She loves kids and don't think she didn't use contraceptives cause she did! Multiples and due to her fertility levels and some accidents due to things breaking when they shouldn't have she got caught.

Her opinion was if she got pregnant dispite protections then there is a reason for it and she's gone on to have some very talented and wonderful children.

Now if you are feeling anxious and are really worried about the "hump" that's forming then please call up your doctor and ask if he could see you sooner. Tell him about what you are worried about. If he's a good doctor he'll or she'll listen to you.

My sister liked dealing with midwives instead of doctors, though she also prefered having her children natural dispite what the doctors wanted...she's very strong willed and independent. I heard her ask one doctor "Who's having this baby? You or me?"

to which the doctor promptly stopped telling her what to do and left the room. I laughed cause she turned to the midwife and said "Good, now that he's out of the way, let's get back to having this baby..."

So I wish you the world of good and hope that this pregnancy is all that you want it to be and more. I do hope that everything works out for the best for you and try not to be hurt by the ignorance or arragance of some posters....

Brightest blessings to you and your wonderful family!

Anything is possible! But showing early could mean a lot of things, and most often it's simply a matter of how/where the baby is lying. The ultrasound will give you a btter idea of what is going on.

Also, you will usually show faster with subsequent pregnancies because no matter how much exercising and dieting you do after giving birth, nothing ever returns to quite it's pre-pregnancy size/shape!

  • Don't worry, it's very common for you to be showing already at 4 weeks! You are pregnant with your third child and the skin and uterus is bigger than before you were pregnant with your first! You will more than likely get bigger then you did with your previous children. It's possible that you're having twins, but only an ultrasound can tell you that! Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy! =)

I have twins. I don't think the size of your belly at 4 weeks has anything to do with having twins. Probably more likely that it's your third pregnancy and you expand sooner on the later pregnancies. My twin pregnancy was my first and I got bigger later ... ie. by 3 months was more like 4, by 5 months was more like 7, by 9 months was HUGE. But 4 weeks was barely noticeable.

I would doubt you have twins. Your body is just remembering what it's supposed to do and has kicked into gear. So you pop out faster and you will probably get bigger. At this stage the babies are just way to small to have an affect on your belly size.

  • You could be, or you may be further along then you realize. Only real way is to tell by an ultrasound and hope the baby/babies cooperate! :)

I would ask your doctor for an appointment to check and make sure everything is going okay.

if you are small and you have had kids already then I would say it is normal...its always a possibility for multiple births...good luck..

Shouldn't you be asking your obstetrician about this? Where's your common sense? Duh! You're onto your 3rd child and you don't even know what is happening to your body. Are you educated enough to have that many children? For heaven's sake you need parental guidance before you have anymore children. You better stop at 3!
