Why do people have extra marital affairs?

Because they are no better than dogs in heat!

A whole multitude of reasons:

To make people feel wanted again, to put a spark back into their lives. Often, they happen when marriages become stale and the same thing, day in, day out, with less and less things to talk about, and the same routine sex.

When people have affairs, they get some new experiences they didnt have in the marriage. In terms of sex, it's a different person, with different techniques - not nessecerily better, but different.

In terms of emotion, someone else is showing you affection, that was lost in the marriage. There are more things to talk about with someone else. Conversations can be about them, not the daily drab humdrum of married life...bills. money. woes etc.

Those who want their marriages to work, must first understand why the affair took place, and work on changing the routine of marriage.

Live life one day at a time - don't let a marriage become static or stale.

Introduce new ideas into the bedroom. Be more spontanious. Get up and drive around. Find more things to talk about. Do more things together.

Do that, and you can have a affair free marriage!

They have issues in their current relationship that they are not to addressing OR they are not able to acknowledge that there are some problems that need to be delt with.

They have self esteem issues and by having an affair, they might belive it will make them feel better about themselves.

I do not take an excuse as being "bored" as to having an affair. That in my opinion would fall into the catagory of having issues already in that relationship.

carelessness, selfishness and sex before marriage are some factors. Hard to forget some of that passionate sex with an 'ex' or a 'fling'.

Letting your d*ck do the thinking and not your brain. Men just find it so hard to let good, willing, free booty go past by. Do they think about the wife at home or the kids in school, Nah! or maybe after that!!

When couples are having alot of turmoil in their relationship it makes them vulnerable to anyone who comes along offering them a way to feel good about themselves. In an effort to feed that good feeling about themselves they pursue a course that will enable them to continue.

It's not an excuse but is the main reason it happens.

Bored, not in love with thier partners, just for the thrill of it, and mainly because they dont have the guts or respect to tell thier partner that thier relationship is in trouble and work something out with them.

think some people do it because the person they are with is blind to the fact their partner has no conscience...I can see a man or woman who's partner is disabled and can't actually have sex, or they are sick for many years, loneliness feels terrible, but to just go out and screw someone else just cause you can get away with it, is cold, calculated, scheming, and just tells you, you married the wrong person...

Sometimes it's because their husband/wife quits paying attention. Most of the time there is something wrong that both of them have talked about but wasn't taken serious.

People have affairs when there is something missing in their relationship.

Men usually cheat for sex........Women usually cheat for attention and affection.

To fulfill a need that hasn't been fulfilled.

and, low self esteem (false sense of security to cheat)

to satisfy their sexual needs and desires.... or b/c they get a thrill out of doing what their not suppose to do and waiting in a sense to get caught .... and if they never get caught then maybe they feel their mate doesn't pay enough attention to them ...so they will really do what they want.....
