Did Jesus really claim divinity?

Jesus claimed to be the son of god, but he also said we are all children of god. What are your thoughts.

Whatever he claimed I do not believe he was god, just asking your thoughts.

Yes in John 10 30 he says "I and the Father are one." After Jesus said this they tried to stone him..here is what it says "Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?"

"We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."

divinity, means a being divine, a god

divine, means godlike, from god, a god.

    Did Jesus claim divinity No.

Is Jesus divine, (a god) yes.

Just as the judges of Israel, (Ps. 82:6)

    Just as Moses (Ex 7:1)

Just as the angel (at Judges 13: 21,22)

But He never claimed or taught that he was equal to his Father Jehovah. (John 17:3, 1 Cor 11:3, Rev 3:12)

    Edit:

    John 8:58

The expression at John 8:58 is quite different from the one used at Exodus 3:14. Jesus did not use it as a name or a title but as a means of explaining his prehuman existence. Hence, note how some other Bible versions render John 8:58

1869: "From before Abraham was, I have been." The New Testament, by G. R. Noyes.

1935: "I existed before Abraham was born!" The Bible—An American Translation, by J. M. P. Smith and E. J. Goodspeed.

1965: "Before Abraham was born, I was already the one that I am." Das Neue Testament, by Jörg Zink.

1981: "I was alive before Abraham was born!" The Simple English Bible.

1984: "Before Abraham came into existence, I have been." New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures.

Thus, the real thought of the Greek used here is that God's created "firstborn," Jesus, had existed long before Abraham was born.—Colossians 1:15; Proverbs 8:22, 23, 30; Revelation 3:14.

Again, the context shows this to be the correct understanding. This time the Jews wanted to stone Jesus for claiming to "have seen Abraham" although, as they said, he was not yet 50 years old. (Verse 57) Jesus' natural response was to tell the truth about his age. So he naturally told them that he "was alive before Abraham was born!"—The Simple English Bible.

Not only did He claim "divinity", He actually claimed "Deity".

Did he claim that all are "children of god"? Didn't He tell some that they are of their father, the devil?

In a sense people do say we are all the children of God IN THAT we were created by God; However, Christ also said we need to become children of God by adoption.

Bottom line, though seems to be that whatever He claimed, you have decided to disbelieve Him. You disbelieve the law and the prophets. You disbelieve the Apostle Thomas. You disbelieve St. Matthew, St. Mark, St. Luke, and St. John. It seems that is what "freedom" is all about. You can believe or disbelieve. Of course if you don't feel you need a Saviour who is Deity incarnate, then you will have to try to work your way to Heaven.

I might be good, but I sure can't be that good!!

    Not Divine on Earth

The Scriptures make it clear that Jesus was entirely human from his birth until his death. John did not say that the Word was merely clothed with flesh. He “became flesh” and was not part flesh and part God. If Jesus had been human and divine at the same time, it could not have been said that he had been “made a little lower than angels.” Hebrews 2:9; Psalm 8:4, 5.

If Jesus had been both God and man when on the earth, why did he repeatedly pray to Jehovah? Paul wrote: “In the days of his flesh Christ offered up supplications and also petitions to the One who was able to save him out of death, with strong outcries and tears, and he was favorably heard for his godly fear.” Hebrews 5:7.

That Jesus was not partly a spirit when on the earth is proved by Peter’s statement that Christ was “put to death in the flesh, but, made alive in the spirit.” (1 Peter 3:18) Only because Jesus was wholly human could he have experienced what imperfect people experience and thus become a sympathetic high priest. Wrote Paul: “We have as high priest, not one who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tested in all respects like ourselves, but without sin.”, Hebrews 4:15.

As “the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world,” Jesus “gave himself a corresponding ransom for all.” (John 1:29; 1 Timothy 2:6) In that way, Jesus bought back exactly what Adam had lost, perfect, eternal human life. Since God’s justice required ‘soul for soul,’ Jesus thus had to be what Adam was originally, a perfect human, not a God-man.

Well in John 8:58 Jesus said "truely, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am." now if that isn't at divinity, I don't know what is.

    He surely did.

Why do you call it blasphemy when the Holy One who was sent into the world by the Father says, 'I am the Son of God'?

    John 10:36

    No, Jesus did not.

People who wrote stuff down decades after He died attributed Mithraic and other pagan ideas/claims to Him.

...Yes, He did claim Deity; in John 10 we read:

32 Jesus answered them, "I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?"

33 The Jews answered Him, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God."

    **********************************************************************

...And this passage from John 5:

17 But He answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working."

18 For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.

    **********************************************************************

And finally, in Hebrews 1:8 we read:

8 But of the Son He says, "YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER, AND THE RIGHTEOUS SCEPTER IS THE SCEPTER OF HIS KINGDOM."

Yes he did. When talking to the Samaritan woman he declared his deity. He told others that he and the father was one. He said that he was the Alpha and the Omega. He even told some that he was that I AM. or Jehovah. Yewah.

I agree. I don't believe Jesus saw himself as equal with God. His words seem to indicate an inferior position to the Almighty One. I propose that Jesus simply saw himself as a prophet.
