Our furnace isn't working?
Our furnace is making a clicking sound but not working (no heat). What may be wrong?
More details: We live in a duplex- the gas is on, it's a Lennox furnace. It's trying to start but clicking and doesn't catch. Any help appreciated!

A clicking noise in the fernace leads me to believe you have direct spark ignition. Which is not a pilot, it lights the gas directly from the burner when the thermostat calls for heating. If that the case then you have a problem with gas pressure. Most modern heating systems have a controll board with a led light on it. They work in a sequence.
1. thermostat calls for heat.
2. all the safty limits are proven operational
3. Flue pressure is then proven, closing a switch.
4.gas is ignited
5. flame sensor detects the flame so the system knows that gas is burning.
6. system heats up, then the blower comes on.
Your system may be stopping at step 4. You can check the fernace panel and read the diagnostic code by counting the number of times the led lights up and reading what it says.
You really should call a HVAC service tech to fix it for you. Heating and cooling equipment is not something you should mess with without knowing what your doing.

Is the gas turned on?, is the pilot light lit?, sometimes there is a switch to turn on/off the heat/cooler, dont know if this is a mobile or a house, or what kind of furnace, (i.e. gas, electric, propane), is there a thermostat , or is it a wall hugger, I just thought of something as our waterheater did this once. The little piece of flexible wire looking stuff, is called a thermocouple. the end of this sticks into the pilot light and opens an internal valve when it gets hot from the pilot light. these do go out frequently, and can be replaced for a few dollars, and you device WILL NOT work if they are bad. try replacing this first, and then see iff the pilot light will work, and then turn the gas valve the rest of the way on. This is hopefully your problem, and they are easy to change.

ours did that last December. We have a gas furnace and the pilot was out. The "clicking" you hear is the furnace trying to light. Instructions for lighting the pilot should be on the inside door of your furnace.
Ours was a bigger problem as we lit the pilot, but it would not stay lit. We ended up buying a new furnace - hopefully yours isn't this big of a problem !

Check the pilot light. If that is the problem, it might be scary to relight. But you can do it. Or you can pay a bit much to have someone come and do it the first time and watch as they do it so that if it happens again, it will not cost you. You turn the knob to off...let the gas smell go away...about 5 minutes...then turn the knob to pilot (holding it down) as you light..continue to hold for 1 minute then let up, the pilot should stay lit. Slowing turn it to the on position. I think that is it. Good Luck.

YOUR warmth SENSOR IS maximum in all probability the priority the warmth sensor may be a rod approximately two times as around as a teeth p.c.., could be 3-6 inches long it incredibly is going to likely be without postpone in front of one of the gas jets you are able to attempt to scrub it via taking it out gently sanding it then reinstall it works one time then no longer others it incredibly is going to artwork. yet ... you may desire to get a sparkling one if it incredibly is the priority

hmmm, it is either a flame sense rod failure or lack of fuel. Better get some help, is it worth the $100 to get peace of mind ?

If it runs on oil, it might have a clog, or the tank might be empty. if it's gas, check the valve, & the tank, if its too low it wont work.

Could be the "logic board" is faulty causing the contactor(built-in on board)to "chatter".
