Sex offender laws???

Do you think that if they change the law that requires crimes against children - FROM DOWNLOADING CHILD PORN TO RAPING A CHILD (all the same in my mind) - to mean life in prison without parole or the death sentence that all sex offenders on the registry should be “grandfathered” into that law. ALL sex offenders that are listed on the registry should have to go back to prison for the rest of their lives. NO EXCEPTIONS… If you ever committed a sex offense crime “NO MATTER WHAT IT WAS”, you should be forced to go back to prison for the rest of your natural life.

Update:

Am I the only normal person left on this planet????

Update 2:

When I say all sex offenses.. I MEAN ALL SEX OFFENSES... if you are on that list, you MUST be an abnormal freak of nature!!!

Why can't people be normal like me.

No you are not the only normal person left on this planet. I don't agree with you though. Instead kill them all. Donate their organs if they are healthy. And let science have the what is left of them. Any one who will rape, murder, molest, doesn't decerve to live. I have 2 kids of my own and anyone who would want to hurt my kids decerves to die the worst way possible. Yes when you kill them make sure it is long and brutal. No compasion for the evil and no forgiveness for them either. To me their is nothing worse than hurting a child in this way.

Questioner: In looking at your questions, you do seem to be hung up on sex offenders. Maybe because the politicians and the media are making such a big deal of it? Can you tell us how many new sex offenses were committed by registered sex offenders this year and how many were committed by people who are not on the list? The U.S. Department of Justice site shows over 95 percent will be committed by people not on the list. That means that the recidivism rate for sex offenders is actually quite small, and quite the opposite of what you and other unquestioning Americans have been told and now believe.

And if all sex offenders should be sent back to jail, hopefully you or someone you know has never been caught peeing in a public place and been picked up for indecent exposure, because we could send you or that loved one to prison for life in your little world.

The problem is that in your mind all sex offenders are people like John E. Couey or Joseph Duncan, when in reality they are the rare ones and most of the nearly 600,000 people on the list are there for very ridiculous reasons. Calfiornia has one fifth of that total, because it requires people who have been arrested for any sex offense, misdemeanor or felony, related to a child, adult or no one at all, going back to July 1944, to registers as a sex offender. And California has been registering people since 1947. Some of these offenders are probably in wheelchairs by now and some haven't had an offense in 40 years.

So, please, do us all a favor. Before you ask such a question, do your research!! All child molesters are sex offenders; however, not all sex offenders are child molesters.

That would violate the Ex Post Facto clause of the United States Constitution.

More importantly, making all child sex offenses mandatory life in prison sentences would mean all persons charged with those offenses would want to go to trial. This means all of those children would then have to testify in open court against the offender (there are some exceptions to this rule, but not enough to be significant). Since not all children testify well, the likelihood is that more and more child molesters would actually be free on the streets. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?

Ok, so you never had sex with a girl when you were in High School? Because Statatory Rape will get you on that list.

No, I don't think all sex offenders should be "grandfathered" into your proposed sentencing system. In fact, what you propose is illegal. It's called an ex post facto law and it is prohibited by Article I sections 9 and 10 of the U.S. Constitution. You cannot retroactively change the legal consequences of an act committed prior to the enactment of a law. Furthermore, there is a huge difference between downloading child porn and raping a child, which is why our current laws penalize these behaviors differently.

Might consider slowing down on this all sex offender thing number one we live in America not the middle east so all those who have been found guilty and served there time cannot be resentenced and life in prison for a 18 year old having consenual sex with his 17 girlfriend might seem a bit harsh to some people.Would you also be in favor of enforcing adultry laws? If so you might consider the middle east where you probably would be allowed to track down and kill your daughter if she sleeps with a man out of wedlock or cheats on her husband. I take it you have decided that Foley is deserving of a life sentence for talking dirty to a 16 year old? if so should we sentence someone to life in prison for doing something illegal in one state that is legal in another? While those who rape children may well be worthy of s life sentence I don't think all sex offenders could be lumped in to the same catogory do you also believe prostitutes and pimps and johns should be givin a life sentence? How about Strippers phone sex operators...Porn stars? People who surf for sex on the internet? or buy adult magazines? What I'm gettign at is prostitution is a sex crime and if it is isnt making a porno and selling it the same thing? And isn't that legal in Nevada? But illegal in other states so we should give those In Nevada nothing while life in prison to hookers in other states? If a man has sex with a 16 year old in Hawaii it is legal but if he does it in Florida he gets life? how about marriage laws that vary from state to state is it then okay to marry your underage girlfriend but if you talk dirty to her on the phone you get life? Clear up these discrepencies and you might be on to something but to say everyone ever found guilty of a sex crime no matter what it is should be tossed in to prison for the rest of there lives is a bit much.

Source(s): You consider yourself normal so do the people in the Middle East who think adulterers should be killed...Whose Idea of normalcy should we go by? Itake it you should set the moral barometer for everyone? Under some peoples moral standards Mary and Joseph might well have been killed before the birth of Christ.

I think you are wrong. You say the law is for offenders against children and then say ALL sex offenders should be imprisoned for the rest of their lives. Some people on the registry are merely on it for taking a leak on the side of the road. Should you lose your life for that? I'm not sure that belief makes you normal.

that is a good point but i really don't think that it would stop the crimes because sometimes the sex offender is someone who is mentally bothered and life in prison wouldn't matter to them, but there is life in prison for murders and people are still getting murdered

I believe that if you commit a sex crime then your should have your privates taken off your body. It might keep more people from commiting those types of crimes.
