When I got married I did not register for a gift that one of my brides maids got me. I did not register for it because I did not know that I wanted one until she gave it to me.

She embroidered my wedding announcenment and had it framed. Not only was it beautiful, but it was thoughtful and she made it herself.

The couple is starting a new branch of their family tree. The bride will really appreciate it. The gifts are for both the bride and groom, but when I asked my husband if he felt that the gifts were meant for both he and I he answered," Getting the gifts were nice, but the best part was seeing you get nice things and the joy that it brought to your face."

Little girls dream of starting their own family for years. Giving her a present that will show that her dream of starting a family has come will be both appreciated and heartfelt.

Brides will get two toaster, two blenders, three ladles, and etc, etc. She will have to exchange this items for something new. Rest assured she will not be exchanging yours for something else. She will be able to proudly display the Family Tree next to her wedding photos and be reminded daily of where she and her husband have come from and dream of where they will grow from here.

I think it's nice, and you think it's nice, but the question is will the couple receiving the gift have the same opinion? If they have a registry I would stick to that...or cash. If you do go for it, you may want to include a gift receipt.

If the bride and/or the groom are interested in genealogy, it is a good gift. If they're not, it is a bad choice.

If you know the couple is interested or likes these types of things than I guess it will be fine.

If that's their taste......It's not mine. I'd rather have cash like everyone else I know.
